Yeah.... Thanks for THAT reminder! I wasn't the one that opened it. And the person who did, twisted the cork and broke most of it off inside the bottle :AK47::AK47:

Since I didn't drink while raising my children, I let my daughter use it for Bourbon Meatballs. I really didn't know what else it was good for after that.

I still have the Bicentennial Jim Beam unopened. I do intent to expand my Jack collection though.

Speaking of ICON, I'm not happy with my setup either. Rides like junk for the price IMO. .

Not to hi-jack the thread too much, but what don't you like about the ride and how do you drive your 4Runner? From what I've read, they're built to get softer the faster and harder you drive over bumps (like washboards). Unfortunately, that's not my driving style, so I may have to rethink this.

I don't know much about this line of coilovers so I may be speaking out my butt, but if I remember right, King Coilovers recommend to be rebuilt every 15000 miles for highway \ dirt driving. Is that the same for Icon and any other manufactures as well? I was just looking at the ADS series that SRQ Fab have on their site. Pricey, but who knows...

I am pretty happy with my build. But I would change my roof rack a bit to make the expanded metal go all the way to the sunroof instead of stopping a foot from it -_- not sure why I built it that way... Done the e-locker swap earlier or waited for one with a locker, A slightly lower profile front bumper out of a slightly thinner and lighter steel or even aluminum, I would keep the rear the same but a slightly lighter steel to bring weight down (I LOVE having dual swingouts), Gone 255/85 instead of 285 but that will come soon enough, put more effort into my wiring... It all works but it would take forever to make it clean at this point, made an integrated subwoofer so I don't have to pull the box out when I want to use the platform (this will probably still happen), gone with LC shocks instead of the Toytec ones for the rear so handle the weight and maybe LC coils (still have not needed them but they might be nice to have)...

Now while I have all that to say about it, I am super happy with my build and love my runner, I am just always looking for what I can add or improve when i have the chance.

I'm not actually doing a "build" per say, but just making an old truck as reliable and safe to drive as feasible. My lesson- I would have waited to find a better rig to start with. Mine ended up costing just about as much as a clean, well maintained 'turn key' 'runner would have cost. My effort/labor has basically become absolutely worth nothing.

Oh well. I'm excited to get it back from the shop. November 15 is my anticipated switchover date from the car. I'm assuming I will have it back before that!

I'm more of a Knob Creek kind of guy. Although, I believe it's Jim Beam that makes Bookers, and that is one hell of a bourbon.:tea:

I passed up a 99 from Texas that was about a grand "over my budget" but clean clean clean.

I ended up with a truck that will end up costing me well over $2k over what my original "budget" was.

When I bought my 99 I didn't haggle, I paid what the guy was asking cause it was the best one I'd seen yet, had all its service records and low miles. I verified all the details, services and minor repairs he had done. In retrospect, I think I got really lucky, the only thing that would have made it better was if it were 4WD but all of those I saw were in way worse shape. So now I'm looking to convert it, and I'll probably spend $2K doing it. Oh well, live and learn.

So it depends on the setup or your setup your doing with it. According to everything I've read and researched the 4k for the Stage 5 is money ahead in my thinking/future build. The selectable CDCV has the ability to turn to the point of little bumps feel like nothing so I can continue to go out. I can adjust the valving up more for different response for a little quicker speed. It will take me sometime to learn which setting for which but my last trip out i've been bed ridden for a few days due to it. I don't want to give up ever going out till I can't move. I think even if I only get a few more years going out I would rather spend that money to experience my life..

I looked at Fox/Kings but they don't work for me as I don't go 'fast' over rough area. My Toytec Ultimate with superflex coils is really rough ride...

I've been reading up on them but have questions. I just need to organize them and have time to send them off. My major concerns are rebuild intervals and cost of rebuild. Able to do it in house or have to ship off to have it done.

Because they are a "race" shock, are they built for higher speeds? There's more, just need to get others opinions and look into it more.

They are. And I have them on Facebook as well. I spent time over the weekend to read over his site and ADSs site. I want to do as much searching and research on my own before I contact them to ask questions. That way, I can hopefully teach myself something and the questions I do have are legitimate ones. There's so much I don't know about suspensions, that I want to learn about it, not just buy a part, put it on, and brag about it afterwards... LOL

I've looked into those and custom setup like building your own. Even looked at the other gen's and trying to make it work for what I need. The only problem when branching out into this area is difficult cause it's not precise to our generation of vehicles, thus into a uncharted terrain. So I always go back to Icon...

Now that being said I really like the option of adjustable as I drive. Road set to 7, hit the gravel air-down change the dial to 1 and the ride is a Cadillac. Now that being said it's completely what I'm reading not personal experience. So I've also been contemplating the changing my coil-overs (less stress which means the height/weight lowers down. I will also say that my last outing it looks like I need to do some tuning on my rear shocks. I'm getting like 4-5" of travel which isn't correct. Toytec says that you install the bump stumps onto the bottom of the existing bump stop and I know if a shock hits the bottom to hard it can blow out the internal seals. That being said worse case I ruin them early..hah

As far as shocks. I love my icons. And guess what, blow them out. You can rebuild them. But my next project will have to be bumpstops. Something that will really work. And not this rubber bump stops. They are ok for small stuff. Not for if your going fast over whoops.

Something like this. Or hydraulic ones. Either way. I believe this will soak up a lot of the shock work.

Oh man, I know that one! I was having a party at my house & my friend Allison finished her bottle of Absolute & then proceeded to open my sealed bottle of Black Death vodka worth $200 in 2007 that I bought for $30 around 1990. Yes I yelled at her & after I was over it we all started doing shots & it was pretty good! LOL
