Ignition coil replacement?

My ‘07 V8 4Runner has almost 230k miles on her. I’m a stickler for maintenance with it. My question is concerning the ignition coils. Do these slowly “wear out”, similar to spark plugs or do they simply work fine until they die? They’re original to the vehicle, basically I’m trying to decide whether to replace them or not. Engine has no issues. Thanks guys

they just die randomly. my motor has 20k+ miles on it since new, cylinder 5 started saying misfire, moved the coil and it changed with it. so bought a new NGK coil and truck is back to running great.

Would not replace them on them PM basis. They don't get "weak" but they can fail intermittently.

I replaced all mine at 200k and kept the old ones as spares.

Recently at 220k I had random/multiple cylinder misfire codes. Decided to swap in new denso coils. Almost every one of my coils ended up having a crack in the body of the coil.

I wouldn't change them if you're not having issues, but maybe inspect them if you're really concerned.

V8 coils are different from V6 coils. I've seen cracks in V8 coils. V6 coils seem to be better in this regard. Anyways, easy enough to pull them and inspect.
