Ill4runner Build!

I Painted my wheels! Just noticed they look odd because they're clean & shiny on a fairly dirty rig...

lol

I almost went with flat black, but semi-gloss sounded better.... i might change my mind if the shinyness doesn't get muffled by getting dirty... will have to wait and see, anyway this was really time consuming but i'm fairly happy with the results!

UltraGauge Installed!

so i only drove around the block, so the mileage is unbelievably terribly (i hope...) i'm very proud of making use of this formerly wasted space! going to customize the screen soonish.

I've been plotting the 'Rock Lights' idea, i like the plan, but my one test light doesn't seam to light up very much.... any advice from experienced ones?

Installed the sliders this week! i've tested their "sturdiness" with me ~230 lbs and a buddy of mine (~270 ish) both standing on each side and they didn't move at all! whew!

I've lost track of all my tinkering.... Put a LED spot light bar in place of the old aircraft landing lights (much better looking and brighter!) ordered a new "striker-latch" for my tailgate (since the old one is on its last legs), and today i put in some cup holder lights. I'm sure there's more, but i need to look at my credit card statement to remember it all......

truck looks sweet man! I want to steal your headlights, those things are badass and they put out probably 10x the light I get out of mine haha.

yeah man i went back and forth over my projector install for over a year, but there is simply no way to make the OEM headlights any better... Projectors have probably been the best single upgrade yet, and vastly more safe when you can actually see where you're going!

they have some pretty good deal going on right now... Retro-Fit-Source

Oh yeah, did the CS144 swap also, now idling @ 14V after warming up, when cold the ultra-gauge says 14.7V! the new whirring smooth sound (sort of like a sewing machine) with this GM Alternator sounds sweet too!

Got any pics of the install? Did you do your own wiring harness or a pre-made one?

Now you have another thing to add to your list of mods in your sig!

lol, yeah... i followed doc's write up my only variation is the wiring plug, just make sure you account for color of wires going places, the 'Doorman plug' i received was different from the one that Doc received.

So i decided to get serious about cleaning up the birds nest around my battery yesterday, cutting wires, trimming excess and installing a Blue Sea Systems 5026:

5026.jpg

after chopping, splicing and heat shrink tubing all day on Saturday, today, my factory alarm starts going off randomly (the horn and flashing headlights).... my best guess was i screwed something up, disassembly / reassembly commenced....

no change after verified i hadn't done something wonderas.....

Then I realized only the factory alarm was going off not my installed aftermarket alarm, so the only thing that sets off the factory alarm is a door trigger or voltage draw, no shorts in my wiring (all fused), then i remembered my fubar'd trunk latch that thinks the trunk is always open (still waiting for replacement in mail) recently it's been turning on and off with random jolts while driving. So i take the trunk lid apart, unplug the light switch and voilla the factory alarm shuts the h**l up!

feel like a f**kin police detective after spending ALL DAY looking for something i screwed up, and it turned out unrelated... it's Bourbon time!

Maintenance time...

The destructions say i need to drop the front differential to get the oil pan off and replace the leaking gasket, so the next stretch of clear weather this is going on! anyone know why there is two gaskets?

Also need to replace steering rack bushings!

Heavy heart

With a heavy heart i must announce my dear friend of ~13 years was killed by an idiot that turned left in front of me, my 4runner used the front of his shitbox as a ramp and rolled over.... I fractured few fingers, hurt my hip/low back, but i'm okay otherwise. My 4runner will probably be totaled, she saved my life!!! giving her own for me! ALWAYS BUY A TOYOTA!!!! i'm a loyale customer for life.....
