I'm Baaaaaack..!!

Congrats on getting back into a bigger rig... i figured it was only time since u cant just easily change form a lifted 4runner to a camry.

Thanks man!

Uh oh. Thats an awfully nice truck. Don't hack it up man! Hold yourself back from the sawzall and box of tools!!
haha I wish I could keep it stock but that just seems impossible. I love me a lifted tacoma to much.

You'll like the DC. I bought one after my last 4Runner and it was a much more versitile platform for me. I regretfully sold that truck, due to our first kid being born, but replaced it with a Land Cruiser, which is a bit more baby/mom friendly (VSC, ATRAC, heated leather, better cargo for strollers/groceries, etc.). I miss having a truck, so I'm now on the lookout for a low mileage 01-04 regular or access cab Tacoma, 5-sp for myself. I never knew how useful truck beds were. It's been a long two years without a truck, so the hunt begins.

The clock "issue" wasn't a big deal for me. Not sure why everyone makes a big fuss over it. I usually had my cell phone on the center console anyway.

Good luck with the build.

EDIT: BTW, you can get Bil shocks from downsouthmotorsports.com for a pretty good price. I believe right at $300 shipped for all four. Call their number and say you saw their ad/promo price on tacomaworld.com

Good luck with the search. Like you said to me theres just othing like having the truck bed. Yeah if my biggest complaint about the truck is the clock though ill be just fine lol. Downsouthmotorports is where I planned to buy the shocks. Just going to make sure I want bilstein on the front before I pull the trigger. I wish some used SAWS would pop up soon but if they dont its not a big deal. Get atleast a xcab though imo. I had a single cab tacoma and it was ok but I always wished it was alteast an xcab.

Yeah I knew I would eventually get another 4wd toyota but just didnt know when. I finally found one I liked quite a bit and traded for it. It was a one owner(old grandma) and she was just wanting something better on gas so it worked out for both of us.

Sliders should be finished tomorrow and hopefully be powdercoated next week.

Here we go again!

So do have an official build on TTORA or anything? I would really like to see everything you do in detail like you find in build threads.

I don't have one yet but I do plan on making one. Whenever I get a few more parts in I will start one up. I'll post a link in here for anyone interested. I may just add the tacoma to my old 4runner build thread on here.

Nice to have you back Haddix! That new Taco is sweet! Seeing what you did with your old 4runner, I'm sure this thing will be bad ass soon!

Thanks man, glad to be back! Yeah I cant wait to start building on this one. What does everyone think...black steelies or the stock trd wheels?

Going to try to keep it stock but I said the same thing about the 4runner...

Im sure ill end up modding this one as well. Already looking at ordering sliders soon.

The first thing I want to do is get some sliders made or order some. Hopefully within the next couple weeks that will happen. Also if anyone knows of any good deals on some black steelies post em up or send me a PM.

Ive started buying my suspension for the tacoma. Bought some alcan leafs yesterday and will probably go bilstein all around. Im also looking to buy some 255/85's soon.

Do you see it yet?? Your slowly digging yourself a grave... You started i want to keep it close to stock to well im looking at lifts and tires, you should be checking into bumpers tomorrow. haha

Was just looking over your old build thread... That thing was sick cant wait to see what your gonna do with the taco. :driving:

Haha I was waiting for someone to notice that! I was trying to kid myself. I knew this one would end up modded too. Speaking of bumpers I've already got a few in mind. Probably around Xmas time..i thought at first I would be content with just being back in a 4wd but that just wasnt the case. I've gotta make it mine.

Brian-do the steel wheels really make that much difference? I was really wanting black wheels and I like the simplicity of black steelies.

My old steelies weigh close to twice what my current wheels weight, and I gained a few MPGs back when I swapped.

If you like that look though, there are a few alloy look alikes. Such as the ATX Mojave and Pro Comp 8069.

Yeah, when I got my steelies I already had 33s and 4.88s. As soon as I drove out of the tire shop I said to myself, "Oh sh*t, I shoulda went with some alloys." It was about the same power loss that I felt when I went from stock tires to 33s. I was checking out the PC 8069s at the time too and I wish I would have just gone with them.

That sucks to hear I guess for now im probably going to stick with the stock wheels. Doesnt bother me to much because I am a fan of them so I may just paint them black. As far as bumpers I may go custom or get a tube bumper. I like the 4xinnovations bumper and the allpro bumper quite a bit.

My sliders are finished!!!

Very pleased with how they turned out. They look pretty beefy in person. They should be powdercoated next week.

Well one of the legs that attached to the frame hit the spring mount in the back so had to cut and reweld one of the legs but not a big deal. Got em finished and off to the powdercoater on monday. If all goes accordingly they will be welded on at the end of next week or the week after that. Just a couple more pics..
