im back

Hopefully it’s nothing serious, wheres the picture?!?

not good at pictures and loading. code reader says bad #6 injector...we will see. could also be a bad cylinder, but im crossing fingers its just a bad or sticking injector. Gonna run a bunch of tecron
dont know if there is a better juice....if so...let me know

Compression test and assosiated ignition related routine tune up to set a baseline and see what you have, then do the O'l cheapest fix first as the OBD flags it as an error, take all opportunity to check other things while checking plugs, coil boots, wires or doing VC's if you get into it have it apart and see bad compression, I wiSh I checked my valves when I had the covers off, just for piece of mind, not that I had shims/tools to do it or the down time at the moment Try to rule out fuel/injector the cheapest way and set a baseline so you know what is right with it being a new to you rig.

Sea foam is pretty good stuff. Could try swapping the injector to another cylinder to see if the misfire moves with it.

Unless you have just worked on the injectors, that is not where I would start with diagnosing a misfire. It may ultimately be the cause of the problem, but there are much simpler things to check before you get to that point.

Try some good injector cleaner first. The gasoline in areas is bad. Especially with the ethonal blend. Its possible it's just plugged. :)

I do agree with the above. Way easier to swap around the plugs/coils/wires, only reason I just mentioned the injectors is cause that’s what he mentioned in his post. Also you can rent a compression tester from orielly/autozone for free im pretty sure.

running a strong dose of cleaner, 24 oz of techron in 1/4 tank. Picked up plugs yesterday but too darn cold to work outside. Gonna give the juice some time to do its thing. The injector is very noisy. If and when I really narrow it down, Ill just get 6 injectors, intake, tb and vc gaskets. wires and boots. I might even have some injectors in my storage unit so maybe just try one. Just got to look into how to test b4 doing all the work. I think someplace I have the part numbers for the fuel rail washers. I just did all of that when a knock sensor went bad on my 2000 about 25k ago :( Man I wish I had that as a parts car.

Since you had to give up your 4Runner because of no room, Maybe talk to the owner of the wrecking yard offer to give him back whatever money they gave you for it and ask if you can come and pull parts off it for a day or two (or even better whenever you want/need) and still leave him the scrap weight and odds and ends that he can still pull and sell if they will let you work in the yard if they aren't to picky about liability. The value of a parts runner truck is priceless especially when chasing down issues and catching up on maintenance since you know the parts runner truck intimately.

At roughly the 13 minute mark in this video he shows a pretty inexpensive/effective way to clean your injectors. He used a ton of heat shrink, I managed to do it with one piece of hose and a few pieces of heat shrink and a couple hose clamps. I also just used a small 9v battery with a clip from an old smoke detector instead of the car battery..

wish it was that simple. called the wrecking yard it was taken too...they dont have it..said insurance company auctioned it off and its gone. Called progressive...the insurance company....they said it was auctioned off and they dont know where it is now and then sent me back to the first one. not many yards up here, called them and they said they dont have it. one said maybe but officially they dont have it , said it takes weeks to get from insurance company, and if they have it cant touch till company lets go,,,so bs answer.
wish i could buy it back...but they said its already auctioned off

wohoo, I dont hae a trasnponder lock out, or its bypassed by auto start. got a key cut today, started and ran no problem. so then I took suspected chip key and put it inside house. took new key...started right up. glad I dont have to deal with that chip crap

3bears, Congrats on the find quirks n all, got back in the fold quick, ha.
The AWD is better than others, push n go no matter road conditions. Lock the center diff then like older version road conditions matter.
Things to know/remedy: With winter in swing mud n snow VSC will get you stuck, keeps you from powering out at times.
Andy Mod I'd say gona be a plus for you, more drivetrain options.
Worn suspension/lifting at some point VSC needs recalibration two procedures, get's over sensitive.
New design quad channel M/C, Bleeding brakes procedure different if/when time comes.
Food for thought living way out there, nice place to be, VSC module and Master Cylinder problems do pop up, worth keeping in mind.

Stuff I learned getting a 01.
