I went and drove a used 18k mile Limited. A limited's suspension is MUCH better than a stock SR5. There is little to no nose dive when braking on a limited compared to an SR5. If I owned a limited I would probably just leave it stock.
But with stiffer side walled tires and Bilstein 5100's, my Sr5 feels dang close to the limited I drove. My conclusion was there really isn't that much difference from my setup to a limited. From stock yes, but not from mine.
My thing now is the tires. Driving the limited, there was little to no tire noise/whine/howl. I'm getting tire noise now that my Destinations are wearing. That's the thing that's bugging the most I think subconsciously and making me criticize the ride. The ride isn't that bad really. I also test drove a MDX on the same trip and it rode and drove worse I'd say.
Super surprised, but it's turning out the best solution I think will be the new tires that the micheln "employee" suggested a few posts back! I think new tires will give me quiet and maybe a little smoothness to satisfy...
