I'm loving my new suspension!

My truck drives like it's brand new! I took it for a long Sunday drive yesterday & I was amazed at how well it drove. I finished my lift last week but I had some issues with the D/S CV loosing its grease & the All-Pro UCA's rubbing on the shock tower. I put in a new, not rebuilt axle (Napa Maxlife), did some grinding & took it for test drive.

I had the original shocks & springs on her & they were really hard on bumps & pot holes.
I also had vibrations in the steering wheel which are now totally gone!
(they were greatly reduced last Nov when I put in a new drive shaft)
I'm pretty sure it was the new Energy Suspension steering rack bushings that did the trick.
The only thing I needed to get used to was the center of gravity being higher.
With the steering rack being so tight now it was easy to over compensate for the body lean. I was actually looking for bumps & pot holes to go over because it rides so smooth now!

So here is what I upgraded to:
TRD Tundras Springs
LC 8 Wraps
5100 Billies at all 4 corners (2nd perch on the front)
OEM LBJ's & OTRE's
ES rack bushings
All-Pro UCA's.

Looks good! Just did the Tundra TRD front/ OME 906 rear lift after riding on stock front coils with lift blocks and LC rear coils. Rides like a new truck! Good to know that I only have to change perch height of the 5100's to match the LC's when I get my bumpers installed. Enjoy the new suspension!

I love the TRD/LC setup. Best ride IMO. Just remember when you bump the front end up you will lose that great ride up front. They just get stiffer and stiffer the more you raise it up and it wears out the parts faster.

I was tempted to put them on the third perch with new the steel bumper & skid plate coming but I'm glad i didn't.

I just did a similar mod, TRD springs up front, Bilstein 5100s around, and OME 906s on the rear. I've been beyond happy with it. My cousin and I went wheeling last weekend and took the co-pilot seat. He was amazed at how well it rode and even mentioned that it was much smoother than his LC100 was on the same trails.

I was going to buy the Sonoran Steel 1.2 lift kit but a member here was selling the 7.2 kit that he never installed for $1200 shipped so I bought it. That's where the TRD Tundra's came from. I new I didn't want the OME 890's so I waited for a set of LC coils to pop up in the classified section. I paid around $60 shipped for those.
The All-Pro UCA's I bought from a member here who never installed them $460 shipped.
The OEM parts I bought from CamelBack Toyota, free shipping on orders over $150.
LBJ's - around $170 for the pair (they come with the castle nut)
8 Bolts - $12
OTRE - around $90 for the pair
ES Steering Rack bushings - $22 from Wheelers Off Road
I melted one of the steering rack boots trying to get one of the nuts loose on the OTRE - $23 OEM from Amazon Prime
New Napa Maxlife CV $88.00 Local store.
Tires from Discount Tire - $720 shipped
2014 T4R TE wheels - $400 from a member here.
I'm too lazy to add it all up, it wasn't cheap but it was well worth it to use quality parts & I got good prices on everything. I plan on keeping this truck forever so there's no reason for me to cheap out.

I'm feeling the same way. I've only had my 4runner since April and I've already spent 60% as much as I spent for the car back on the car in parts/mods/PM... and I don't feel even a little funny about that. I had my last car for 10 years (almost to the day) and I'm already more attached to the 4runner. I can't imagine a situation that would cause me to get rid of it... Replace it with something else as a DD, probably in a couple years, but not replace it. After going wheelin' with it a few times, it made me feel even better about it. I plan on driving it tell the engine goes, putting another in, and keep on rolling down the road.

I noticed that decal on your side window. Was going to comment but didn't want to "show my age" but you met Rob freaking Halford!! Judas priest was the 1st concert I ever went to in 1984. That must be a highlight of your life. He still sounds pretty good today. One of the best metal voices EVER.
