I’m missing my spare tire tool. I need something ASAP — what do I do?

I am leaving in two days — this sat — for a 1000 mile trip. I was checking over my 4R for things that I needed to have and for some reason it is missing.

What could I use in place? Are there any online that could come in a day?

I’ve used a really long 3/8” extension to drop the spare if that’s what you are missing.

Everything else from a jack to a socket and breaker bar for the lugnuts can be found at the hardware store or even Walmart.

Yea, any hardware store should have like 2-3ft extensions, just use that.

It’s neither correct nor pretty, but it is “ASAP” and cheap. Jam it in there and turn.

Panic.

Actually I like that rebar idea, just take a grinder to it and square it off. Or somewhere along your 1000 mile journey you'll go by a junkyard with one.

Also make sure it actually turns, they can get rusted up.

Fwiw, i bought this exact one and it works perfectly. It's also nice to have a really long extension with the rest of the tools just in case...

I ended up buying this. So, I feel a lot better now. Thanks!

If you ever had to drop a trans without a lift you will have enough 1/2” and 3/8” extensions to be at the tail shaft to get the bellhousing bolts off.
