Improving roofrack security?

Hey folks,

Going out on a limb w/ this one but I can’t be the only one who has considered this. I have a 2011 SR5 w/ factory rails & crossbars. I’m an avid surf fisher. I will add the most solid & secure surf-rod rack I’ve seen. It’s called Rac A Rod, Surfcaster Vehicle Rod Rack. Its welded aluminum alloy, blocks access to reel seats and locks handles & reels as well as the rods further up. They have holes for padlocks.
The weakest link here, security-wise, seems to the the factory roof cack. I’ve heard of theives ripping the whole rack off of the roof.
Any hints on how to make this overall system more secure?
I’m thinking of replacing the factory bolts and thumb screws w/ those w/ some less common type head if that’s possible.
I’m well aware that if a thief is determined and innovative enough, given enought time can steal nearly anything.
Any other ideas?
Thanks folks.
