inconsiderate people!

It doesn't matter the extent of the damage to my vehicle is if it was the other party's careless act. To me it's a matter of respect. What further pisses me off is when they do it right there in my presence, at that point, you might as well spit in my face. If I have taken every precaution to park far away from civilization to keep my sheet metal ding and scratch free, and they chose to park right next to me to bounce their door off my vehicle, all hell will break loose.

Surely two wrongs don't make a right, but where's my recourse when it's dented and scratched. Someone has to pay and the form of payment is limited. Forget notes, that doesn't work and they'll always deny it. Another reason why, I'll keep my POS car around since the few extra hundred in insurance a year is cheaper than to call the PDR guy. Especially with the holiday season coming up, the malls will be a war zone.

Someone choses to let the door fly open, then be prepared to take responsibility for what's to come.

There's a problem with getting even... If you get caught, you're the one paying the fine, the damage to the other car, and the damage to your own car. In all honesty, it's just not worth it for a couple of minutes of that "I got him" feeling.

both good points. with mall cams all over the place and security not willing to look at them in case of damage I am not to worried about retribution. but to be sure it is not the best outcome. And Uneek has a clear point and it is appropriate in my opinion, rain on me, be prepared for the same.

If you're going to do it, make sure you pull a "CSI" thing... No fingerprints, no blood, protected as much as possible from the cameras...

I've actually toyed with the idea of keeping a few dog turds in a ziploc bag in each vehicle, and anyone I find has dented my car, take the turd, open the bag and use it like a glove, and smoosh the turd up under their driver door handle.

lol

Actually, I thinks it's better to smash the turd into the windshield air intake vents. Then pour water into them to spread the love. There's no cleaning that out easily. The driver would have to put up with the smell that constantly feeds into the cabin. It's crazy what one can think up when in revenge mode eh?

less noisy to shred the tire.:dancin:

Actually, this is why I carry a tire valve core removal tool in my console. Haven't had to use it much over the years but I drive away knowing they can't.

haha nice... I'm going to have to pick up one of these!

Well, I don't condone doing this... but many years ago (over 15 yrs ago) I had a red 1990 Formula 350 Firebird that was my baby! I came out from the mall one day to find a new Cadillac parked in front of me with the front of his car crushing the nose of my Formula! It actually had it pushed in a few inches (it was plastic) and the tag, which was a nice glass cut one with a firbird pic was broken! I was so mad!!!! I took out my key and buried it into his hood and left about a 3 ft gash all the way to the metal! I probably wouldn't do something like that now, but at the time, it seemed like the thing to do and made me feel a little bit better!

Yeah, they didn't make many Formulas with the L-98 350 motor. Here's a pic of her...

I had her for over 10 yrs. 355 with a 520 lift cam, ported heads, headers, drag lites... ran mid 12's with all the motor work and a converter!

I was sitting in my Jeep eating fast food. Some guy in a Honda pulled in on my passenger side and didn't see me. He slammed his door into the side of my Jeep. I was sitting there smiling at him when he got out and saw me. He had just slammed his door into my rocker guards and dented his door. The look on his face was priceless.

Some jackass put a dent in my front wheel painted plastic clading that took 2 days to touch up properly. I've no idea who did it or where, therefore I can't do a thing about it. But, if I saw who did I would scalp them and tear their beating heart out... LOL... not realy...Just kidding. I don't get stressed out about little things like that. To me it's just a car, 2 or 3 years later there would be another one, but there is no way I'd worry myself silly about it.

LOL!

Damn! Remind me never to piss any of you off. lol

KIDS... look out for any family with kids, who tend to just swing doors open and BAM, because they know no better. Then of course the parents get all pissy if you tell them their kids just did something bad. And there's no point revenge-dinging their car back because the kids have usually banged it all to hell already.

I know what you mean tho. My car is evidently a "humungous vehicle attractor". I can park in a nice safe spot and when I return I have an 18-wheeler squeezed in next to me (well, that's an exaggeration, but you get my point).

First week I had my 4runner, I parked on a street, plenty of space between me and the cars in front and behind. An hour later I return and a 7-ton U-Haul truck has managed to shoe-horn itself into the space in front of me. I have a few words with the driver, who's waiting for someone, and he swears he didn't hit my car because his friend helped him park. Thankfully there was no ding, but that's the story of my life when it comes to parking.

And going to Home Depot is a nightmare involving large beat-up trucks, 10-foot pieces of lumber, heavy metal lumber carts, and careless contractors.

They should just allow parking for 4Runners off pavement. The malls with islands of grass and rocks come to mind. This way, we'll just flex the 4Runner's suspension a bit and park in places where cars can't go.

I don't have to worry about dingo and crap smashed into my cabin intake vents, cause even in my POS car, I don't go bouncing my door off cars next to me. It just all boils down to RESPECT.

I had the same thing happen to me with my old Jeep. Those bars were meant to take a serious beating, so when the other driver opened their door into mine it hit the bar, dented the door and took off some paint. They guy looked at me and asked what I was going to do about his door. I laughed and said I could park on the other side so he could have a matching pair.... Another argument for lifted trucks with sliders.
