I've had my 93 2nd Gen 3VZE for over two years now and have loved it....for the most part!
hwell: The head gasket blew the on the original engine and I had to settle for a used engine from (E&TW)Engine and Transmission World. What a Mistake! Run From those guys! They sold me an engine that had blown a head gasket already as well and refused to do anything about it. I broke down and bought a Rebuilt 3VZE with better head gasket and studs from ATK. To bad I didn't know about this forum and the Great info at the time or...
After some idle, richness and emissions issues, I am now starting down the path of economizing this Amazing vehicle to its fullest potential!
I spoke to the Toyota Guru at my local dealership/parts house and he gave me some advice on what I needed and some great sites as well! LC Engineering and Rocky Road Outfitters. WOW! I never imagined having so many awesome options!
I recently made an order to LCE: Cold Air Injection(I like their design better than K&N and price about the same), Crane Ignition, 8.5mm Plug Wires, Black Magic Fan, High Output Alternator, Exhaust System and Free Flow Cat. I'm looking forward to their arrival and installing them!
Their sales and service teams are GREAT btw, and their prices seemed pretty reasonable in consideration they specialize in Toyota related stuff.(unlike 4wheel d-bags)
With all the improvements to the fuel, ignition, and exhaust systems am I really going to see, feel, or hear that much difference? What about at the pump? I'm at 13-16mpg.
Of course I'm going to change the plugs(I'm trying out the Bosch Iridium 4, rotor, cap, O2 Sensor, and clean out the manifold.
The sales person from LCE did call me after I made my order reminding me that a key factor to all of this could be the headers(could add up to 15+ H.P.). I'm outta money for the moment but adding them to my list besides the Balanced Injectors, Pro Comp Clutch, Master Bushing Kit and the OME Suspension.
This is a daily driver/work truck. Not to mention my go anywhere adventurer!
Am I on the right track?

Was also wondering if I should increase the gap on the spark plugs?
