hello all. so I have a near brand new set of 2016 tacoma ted 4x4 coilovers complete assembled. I also have a new set of the rear shocks as well from same vehicle. I already have the energy suspension bushings needed for rear shocks. as far as front lift, I've read so many different lift heights acheived.
I have a 2006 Toyota 4Runner v-8 4wd. I will be adding the pelfreybilt steel plate bumper 115lbs. I wanna maintain 3" of lift up front. or maybe I could try for 2.5 and add a 1" body lift?
help me figure out what size front spacers I will need please. as far as rear I have 1.5 daystars with a 10mm pack spacer for the lean if I need it? also was gonna get the 1/4" top spacer for front just in case of the lean as well.
I do also have a set of SPC upper control arms. I'm trying to do more of a budget lift for now and later maybe add some icons or kings,
I will be running RRW relation race wheels 17" on 285 70 17 tires.
any helpful info is appreciated.

The Taco rear shocks from all the pictures online that I have seen mount on short brackets on the axle side. Our axle side mounts drop down a good bit further so while you will probably be good on compression, extended length may not be as far as other rear shocks.

Not to sound like a jerk, but I think Your front end is going to man handle that suspension like rag doll

I had a taco setup with a v6 and stock bumper and the front bounced around way too much. It was worse than stock.

I agree. I also had taco front springs and that thing made the truck bounce like it was a jacked up sports car. I think the thread about taco and fj springs are a bit misleading. I followed that with the fj rears on 1.5 spacers and it made the rear hop like crazy too. Couldn't believe I drove it like that for over a year scratching my head.:rapture:

I'll add the same sentiments. I've got an 06 V8 and can't wait to get new suspension on the thing. The Taco suspension is pretty bouncy

Agree with everyone else. I'm currently running the Tacoma setup in the front with the daystar 2.5 spacer and Moog FJ springs in the rear with the daystar 1.5. Simply put, it's as stiff as a pogo stick.

I have taco springs up front on 5100's set at 1.75 and it was miserable to drive before I switched my tires over to destination AT's. The Toyo's were super stiff and bouncy. I imagine anything besides P rated will be a bumpy ride.

Wow! Crazy how I read about so many people doing the taco swap and they all are ranting it’s awesome. Lol.
I don’t think I even read about anyone saying it was as bad as you all say. Lol. So I’m glad that I’m finding out now rather than later.
Guess I’ll look into finding some other suspension stuff. Maybe the Trd Pro bilstein stuff? Will that be ok stuff to run? Or should I just do the 5100’s?

I did the Taco TRD and FJ springs setup. It netted me about an inch of lift in the front and maybe 3/4" in the rear. Because I pull a trailer quite a bit and the rear springs are pretty mushy I added some airbags at the same time.

The ride is a little stiff but it's a truck not a cadillac. After I threw the winch and plate (maybe 100lbs) up front it calmed down just a bit.

For the cash (I gave $200 for the TRD parts, $20 for the FJ springs, and another $100 for the airbags) I can't really complain about the suspension setup. It's an order of magnitude bettter than worn out 12yr old XREAS shocks.

If you're planning to "upgrade" later though then maybe just save your pennies and do it right the first time. The install wasn't exactly bad but I wouldn't want to do it again just for giggles.

Guess ill just get something better then. i just happen to have the new oem 2016 trd tacoma 4x4 coil-over assemblies and new rear shocks sitting in my garage.
i would rather just get kings or icons. but for now may just get a new set of 5100's and find a deal on used coil springs front and rear.

Ive been happy up front with the 5100 and the FJ MOOG 4x4 coils (not 2x4) Theyre a beefy 650# spring. Its the cheapest decent spring hands down. I paid around 30 bucks SHIPPED on amazon (open box) Paired with some poly bushings my front end owns the road again.

The rear Moog FJ coils leave something to be desired.

But yeah, better off saving for something better than doing the work twice (or 3x in my case haha)

I would do the 6100's up front if it was me.

Yeah, I got a pretty good deal on my setup so I ran with it. Definitely did the job to get 285s under my truck with minimal cutting. All in all, the setup isn't terrible. I don't expect it to ride like a Caddy, and its done fine for mild wheeling.
