Haaaaaaa! The good thing for me is that my wife knew going into our relationship that I'm obsessed w/ college football & I've had a passion for Toyota 4WD's since very early in my childhood. The 1st vehicle I remember my dad having was an 85' blue xtra cab 4WD. I doubt I'll ever have anything too extreme while my girls are still on our payroll. She thought it was unnecessary to put different rims on my 06', but after explaining how necessary it really was... I've got new rims ha!

I hear you on growing up with Toyota. All I can ever remember is Toyotas in my family. My earliest Toyota memory is sitting in the back seat of an 80s Celica, the ones that had the slates across the back glass. Then it's been nothing but 4Runners and Tacomas of all shapes and sizes since. And I don't see that changing any time soon

So I got the new headlights in, & it appeared that the brackets had been mounted before. However, they worked well & I was able to get my headlights mounted & aimed much better. But still... :wtf: :frusty: :frusty: :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:

This is w/ my LED ditch lights & brights... YUUUUUUGE upgrade. YUGE.

The dims are also a YUUUUUUGE upgrade. Are they perfect? No. Are they better? Hell yes.

Just for comparisons sake, my 2006 4Runner brights.

And now the 2006 4Runner dims. Keep in mind on my 2006, I've got fog lights which is going to make the lower portion of the field of view a little brighter.

Overall, I'd say this set up is DEFINITELY worth the $$$. I am well aware of the fact that 1 could spend $500 & have "better" headlights. But at this point, I'd rather put that $500 towards a bumper or tires or sliders. If you've never done a projector upgrade, this is definitely a dummy friendly install.
My only issue so far is that the power for the wiring harness is connected directly to the battery. That has drained my battery drawing constant power. I full plan on tapping into some of the stock wiring in order to avoid this issue in the future, but I just haven't had time lately. My next major purchase will be some SCS F5's. I'd like some new tires too, but the 265's on the truck still have plenty of tread for now & the tight wad in me just can't bring myself to buy new tires that aren't ABSOLUTELY needed right now. Plus, I know that 285's will suck some power away until I can get some 4.56's or 4.88's.

Now that Christmas has come & gone & I don't have to buy others presents... I'm gonna buy myself a late Christmas gift. I got in contact w/ Vin @ SCS about some Bronze 3.5 BS F5's. Looks like a shipment will be available in late January. Pretty sure after I get my F5's, I'll be purchasing some sliders. Lots to come in 2017...

Hit a mileage milestone recently. Hoppefully there's a couple hundo thou more in her.

Here in Mississippi in the past 36 hrs, we've finally gotten some winter weather. 70* last weekend, 25* this weekend, & a projected 70* next weekend. You don't know retarded weather until you spend a winter in Mississippi.

That's ice, btw... not snow. Looks like it's a good thing I don't really have anything I need to get done this weekend.

Just an FYI, I've recently decided to back away from using Photobucket as my imaging host site. They've become incessant w/ their ads & it bogs down my Chromebook(main internet device) so bad that it's locked it up completely. So if there are any broken links in the future, I'll do my best to correct it. I'm using ImageShack now, & there's no app for Android. So that kinda sucks. But the build must go on.

I actually did some work on mine and the GX470 this weekend. FREEZING my arse off.

I did a cv on the 4R and fluids on the GX.

Let me know if you ever swing down to the hattiesburg area. I'll drive mine to work that day and we can grab lunch and shoot the bull for a bit.

Welp, I pulled the trigger. Vin has my F5's reserved. I'm torn about mounting them on my current tires. I'm gonna try to find some good used 285 mud tires & mount them on the F5's if my patience will allow.

Happy Valentines day to myself!

I just couldn't wait to open them & ck out the hotness of the bronze color. I was a little disappointed to be honest.

They just looked really bland.

Then I took them out in the sunlight the next day... & BAAAAAAMMMMM!!! The bronze hotness is real!!!

I haven't decided about when I'm gonna get these mounted just yet... got a lot of things in the pipeline at the house that need to get done, so these may have to wait a couple weeks. But that bronze is gonna look so good against the green. I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for some 285's on down the line. I'll be saving for sliders next. But I hope I can come up w/ some good 285's soon.

Maybe I'm a tight ass, but Toyota thinks a lot of their fuel filters. But it's long over due, so I ponied up the $40. And as soon as I get over this later winter (sike, there's no winter in Mississippi this yr) upper respiratory garbage, I'll get it installed.

B/c sometimes I'm impulsive, & I simply CAN NOT wait... I decided to go get my F5's mounted. Besides my tire being just about shot & apparently never rotated on a regular basis (per my sisters bad automotive habits), I'll be on the search for either some good used 285's or hopefully stumble upon a good deal on some Buckshot 2's.

Clearly these el' cheapo' tires have seen more fruitful days, but I'd say they've got another 10K+ in them if rotated properly. Fortunately, right now I don't DD this truck, so I've got plenty of time to acquire new rubbers. I was thinking that I may start saving for a bumper, but as bad as I hate to put that off... I've got some more front end work (passenger side cam adjuster is upside down... how?? Absolutely no clue.), so I'll probably do some white lines & potentially schedule a regear front the front axle in the process to prep for 285's. Hopefully all goes according to plan. After a regear & some 285's, I think I'll be headed towards some armor.

Well, this finally got done last night. I think every this is ok... I've changed numerous fuel filters on numerous Toyota's & I've never had a fuel line flange not seat properly. Until last night. I usually pick the line that has the least amount of flex/give & screw that fitting in 1st. On these trucks, that seems to be on the "out"/engine side of the filter. Well, it threaded in loosely like it should... Then I threaded the tank side in. I proceeded to line up the bracket & get the nuts started so I could snug up the lines & call it done. After all this, the "out" side had a very steady drip even after being tightened. So of course I undo everything & ck my threads to make sure they weren't boogered up from a cross thread. Both fittings were fine, the filter threads were fine. #Weird. So I put it back & snugged the front line up & got no drip. After the job was completed, I made sure both fittings were tight & watched for leaks. No leaks. Good deal. Then I noticed that "out" line just beyond the line fitting had some moisture. I wiped it off & I didn't see it recollect... Or at least I don't think I did. I'm gonna run her in the driveway this afternoon & ck for leaks in the​ daylight. I'm not real excited about the thought of having to replace a perfectly good fuel line or brand new filter b/c something won't seat right.

Well guys, I've pulled the trigger on some tires. I REALLLLLY wanted some Cooper STT Pro's. But being the tight ass that I am... I just couldn't justify what they cost right now. But I'm to the point that I need at least 2 new tires in the next couple of months. Since my sister didn't do her due diligence w/ the front end, 2 of these el' cheapo 265's are just about gone. As stated earlier, I wanted an aggressive/tolerable tread pattern & I wanted a 285. I drive this truck about 2 days a week to work, so it's mostly a pavement pounder. I drive my 06' the other days of the week. That's mainly why I wanted to go w/ the Coopers. Then I stumbled upon the Dick Cepek Extreme Country's. Summit Racing had a pretty good deal on them on eBay, so I pulled the trigger on a set.

The tread pattern is VERY similar to the Cooper's, so I've still got the same look that I was going for. Yes, the white letters will be out.

Now, since this is still a problem...

God knows there's no point in putting brand new tires on w/ the alignment cams flipped. So I'll be buying a set of these...

It'll be a few weeks before I can get these mounted. My wife & I will be outta town for our anniversary, so hopefully all of this will be completed by June. After new tires, I'm gonna go ahead & order some armor.

I've still go some sort of oil leak & I'm pretty sure it's due to my slacker ass not re-sealing the 1/2 moons when I did the valve cover gaskets a while back. So it looks like I'll be taking the intake off again :embarassed:. Oh well. Rear brakes are gonna need to be done soon as well.

After several months of driving around w/ my HID projector conversion, I'm still just not satisfied w/ my headlights. They are an improvement. But, when I compare them to my 06's headlights, there's a lot left to be desired. I am pretty sure this will be another modification that I'll be tackling some time this summer.

She saw my Runner in my driveway we got to talking about the things she wanted to do to hers. When I got back in country Feb 15 I heard what happened. Summit Racing has some fast shipping times. These Dick Cepeks are really great looking tires in my opinion & very meaty.

Hard to tell due to lighting, but this is a side by side comparison to my 275 BFG'S w/ these 285's.

The sidewalls are quite aggressive as well. I'm so glad tire manufacturers started making sidewalls more aggressive. It really makes a mud tire look that much better.
