Inner CV joint replacement?

Okay, so I have a 94 runner with that has needed new cv joints for some time so I want want to go ahead and replace them so I can finally allign my truck but...

I know it definetly needs new outer joints (pops when turning) so I found a pair of two outer joints on ebay for 60$ so thats that, My question is about the inner joints. I cant find any info on these. One of my inner CV joint boots has completely exploded open and is very exposed and the other one has a centimeter hole on top. So do I need to replace the whole CV assemble outer and inner joints or what should I do? My car has 138k miles and by the looks of the rusty CV shaft, I dont think they've been replaced for a long time... if ever.

Thanks for your help!

www.rockauto.com has complete assemblies and for you '94 they seem to be cheap. Good luck!

At rockauto website they are using the term "halfshaft"
is that the outer? & are the left & right the same on a 94'?

Halfshaft is the term used for the COMPLETE assemply on each side of the vehicle. It is usually the same cost and easier to replace the complete half shaft(or CV axle assembly) then doing just and inner or outer joint.

:driving:Got the right side done today , I probably do the left side next week..;-)
wasnt too hard to do..

update- got driver side done & it was a breeze after learning on the first 1.
Now I am ready for the offroad park:-):driving:
