Input Front Strut Replacement TRD Pro

I need some input on some replacement struts for my 4-Runner. The issue I have is the front strut top mounts came loose enough on both sides to destroy the threads and you cannot tighten all the way down.

As far as replacements I plan on using the factory springs. I want it be better at front dive and roll in the corners. I am trying to keep costs down here as I will be stripping down and selling the vehicle probably next year.

Ive seen he many threads and none have completely touched on this subject. Some mention using the Bilstein 5100 and others the Eibach Adjustable with good success. What is the overall consensus on this?

How about the 6112. I know a lot of pro guys use the 6112 springs on TRD pro Bilstein.

6112 is the way to go. You can't use OEM Pro coils on 5100s, the springs are the wrong size for the shocks.

so the one main thread on the top of the shock is ruined? or the 3 studs that bolt the assembly to the coil bucket? you can replace the 3 studs. otherwise yea 6112's will work. you'll also have more height adjustment.

Sorry, I had to go out to ensure I wasnt sharing the wrong information.. As what you said made perfect sense and not something I would have overlooked. If this was the case i would just gone and replaced th assembly. I was indeed the top strut bolt that has the issues. It still works and most likely worse case scenario I was thinking of trying to remove the nut and placing a rubber bumper in between two large washers. But it cannot be tightened down any more than it is. The issue is it moves and in doing so has damaged the thread below that point on the top-coil bucket. The right way to fix it would be to replace the strut, but then again I do not want to spend a butt load on it. Since I wont be keeping it I wouldn't get it back out of it and the easiest way to get what I want is to make it right even a small improvement over the trd package.

Now for other posters. The Bilstein 6112 could work yet the 6112 comes with its own springs. Which using the shock would be perfect since the stock TrD springs are 1 shorter. Not to mention that the kit is north of $600. A far from trying to save money here. At this point why not just go with gold standard Icons I usually buy.

Would be willing though to trade ICON Billet Rear Lower Arms for a set. Both in the same price range and pulling off mine wnd reinstalling the factory bits..

gotcha. yea i actually had the same issue on a set of 5100's wayyyy back in the day on a truck. I ended up being able to tighten the top nut down beyond the damaged area. i think a vise, vise grips, and clamps were used it was not a fun time lol.

Though I appreciate the input. A stock TRD shock upgrades wouldn't be just front struts but the whole package and well north of $800. Myself if I was keeping this would go adjustable coil overs for this kind of money. I will try to repair again if I cannot complete the repair looks like I am going with the eibach shocks.
