Thank you!

I DO have the borla muffler, however, i decided to have both tips routed angled out the one side. There were a couple reasons 1) i never got the proper hangers from whoever ( i dont rememer) 2) for me, the total borla/trd setup once i got it all together was TOO QUIET. i dunno if its bc i was running the setup for a week or so with NO piiping after the muffler or what but i was unpleased with the sound. So i took the truck to a local place that was recommended and I talked with the dude for about 6 and a half minutes, basically explaining that i wanted more sound, less visible piping and had no need for the spare....and thats the result. The inner tip is the same angle as the borla, just a swapped tip and the other piping was custom bent to match up and come out right next to it. I like the sound now, not as loud as no tailpipes but louder than two split. 3) i also didnt like the 'fake' dual exhuast look once the kit was on, once i was underneath the truck on a lift i was like 'man thats just useless piping' so... overall I was eventually fully pleased :-D
The borla is very nice.

you ran the borla with the two vertical pipes coming out of the muffler venting to the atmosphere directly under the truck? And that was loud or quiet? Seems like you said both at different points in the post. Also, didn't it fill the cab with fumes at stops, and even rolling?

I just bought that portion of a borla, muffler section, and figured I'd dump it all on one side also but I'm trying to figure out a way to keep it from getting pinched when I wheel the thing.

yeah man thats right, it was REAL LOUD. I liked it, but most would probably say it was too loud. Never had fumes in the cab or anything like that, but I DID cook my carbon cannister and some associated hoses, but my dealer covered it (luckily! $600 +/-) I really wanted to just keep the tips UNDER the trukc and over the axle, but facing down rahter than up. the two places i talked to werent keen on the idea, and after two attempts at one welding place i went to the other and they finally got it how i wanted. That pic shows how it is now plumbed. the tips come out at a similar angle to the magnaflow but are round and are tucked more under the truck.
I dont know what to tell u about potential pinching....... but i dont plan on doing it! hope that helps

ICL, yeah I had the dealer put on the factory tint when I bought the truck and then had 15% put on shortly thereafter. Ive gone with 15% on every vehicle ive had and dont have any probs, however at night and the fac tthat the 4runner is now higher I usualy roll down the fronts when backing up at night just for insurance...

Ive never had trouble with the fuzz.

Just got back from my snowboarding trip to Copper Mountain, CO last night....will be posting pics shortly!!!

they all look sweet guys!!!

just wondering though why does no one goes with the flowmaster? I heard my old t4r riding by me on the street and he revved it up at my window when he went past me and it sounded awesome. I didnt have a suppressor on there and I had the tip turned down under the passenger door for a more clean look and the smell was never a problem.

just some food for thought...

I personally wouldn't use flowmasters 'cause I don't want my truck sounding like a mustang

I understand what your saying theoretically, but if you had ever actually heard the way it sounds like I had it set up you would completely change your mind. It sounds nothing like a mustang...only a clean burning smooth running foreign motor with a little bit of meanness added.

Finally got the photos of the Colorado trip uploaded! We stayed at Copper Mountain for 4 days and managed a day trip to Vail and Breckenridge. Since it was my first time in CO, we hit the ground running.

I popped it into 4-wheel drive when we came up the summit and kept it there the entire time. 60 mph on the freeway no sweat with a good snow-pack. I actually had a hard time breaking it loose. The STT's did very well. Managed about 360 miles/tank (over the course of a 14 hour drive). Enjoy!

PS ~ I installed Anco wipers (comparable to the neoform wiper blades) and I was really impressed. Combo that with some negative 20 degree wiper fluid and we were good to go.

Notice I also took off the running boards : )

Great Pics! :bigok:

Two of my favorite things: 4Runners and snow. I think the Coopers will be my next tire. I love my Nittos but want something a little more aggresive.

Thanks for posting.

great pics! I miss colorado, its been about 3 yrs since my last visit.
It DEF. has the dirtiest vehicles of any state i think.

Did you ever get your rubbing issues straightened out? More specifically the rubbing behind the front wheel wells.
How did you resolve it?

yessir we are about 97% rubbing free...
I had to cut a small piece of the body colored plastic off on both sides..... kinda of hard to imagine but Ill take a pic tommorow (i might already have one....). A small piece, like maybe 1" x 1"..a pic will make it easier!

BUT I DO RUB on the body mounts, the left more specifically. It doesnt happen much at all, only if im hanging a hard left DOWN a hill or reversing hard left on a hill. it doesnt seem to be an issue on flat ground, I can do u turns. When it does rub, im going slow bc im ready for it and i can feel like only or two of the lugs on the tire hit...I dont know how much of this can be resolved by having them aling the wheels forward some, sorry i dont know technical term right now..... but either way im gonna go have my body mounts chopped soon, fugit. I also have not trimmed nor rubbed on the front of the front wheel wells (back of front bumper), so i guess it can go either way. However this is on my list of things to do, im just being a vag about dremmeling metal. I also have to trim some on the back of the rear wheel wells, where the mud flaps bolt up. Here i only experience rubbing at ONE SPOT i offroad at, and it is obviously by far putting the most flex on my suspension.
Part of my problem is that i still have part of my mudflap bolted on, no more mudflap itself but i kept the associated plastic that goes inside the wheel well. So if I unbolt that, and do some minimal trimming in the rear i should be ready for max flex. Whats been slowing me down is that i like having that plastic piece in there as a kind of 'gap guard' and that ive never dremmeled metal and I dont wanna fvck up ;-D

Sorry if this is long winded and confusing, I am stoned to the max.

Good info., thanks.
I guess I'm wondering why some with the 285 Coops report no rubbing at all and some report rubbing on the front of the front wheel well and, some rub on the back of the front wheel well. This is pretty much with the same lift heights.
Just seems a little strange. I guess it can be chalked up to the very small variances involved in how the vehicles parts fit together.
I don't know, but have read that when getting an alignment you can have the front wheels adjusted forward a bit. Might help your situation some.

sort of, but if i align forward I may then get the rubbing in the front; key word MAYBE. I dont think im going to bring it up, since ive already gone and trimmed and I think trimming the body mounts could only be beneficial, especially to someone who offroads alot. Also, id really like to step up to a 12.5" wide tire next time, and having that body mount out of the picture will help, however at that point I may STILL have to trim the front..

It is strange how there is variation in how people rub..... its probably a combo of how there setup is setup (alignment) and how they offroad.
