A 285/70 AT or MT will not fit in the factory spare location if you have a weight distribution hitch.

1 1/2" Wheel Spacers Installed - HELP!!!
My brother, dad and I installed 1 1/2" wheel spacers today (ALL freakin day...) and had (and still have) some SERIOUS rubbing issues! We trimmed the fenders and wheel wells but still seems to be rubbing on a back part of the front wheel wells. The part it seems to be rubbing on is a metal piece/bar that's attached to the frame. Don't think I should be trimming metal on the frame...?!?!
What the hell? It's fine if I drive it like a granny. But guess what? I DON'T!
Got any suggestions?

which spacers did you get? not that it should change anything but I didn't have the issue you're having and I think we have the same basic lift demensions, same tires and same spacers. No frame rubbing or metal rubbing at all on my setup.

I'm going to email you the Alignment Report that was given to me after I had my 4-wheel alignment done. This should give you the exact measurements for toe, camber, caster, SAI, etc.
If you have your settings adjusted to what mine are and it is still rubbing, I can only conclude the .25" difference between your and my spacers are what's causing the rubbing on the frame.

Thank you to Trik444 and holzapfel for your advice earlier in this thread on the Cooper STTs. I have now had the STT's for around 3 months in 275/65R18, which (for those who do not already know) is the same as 275/70R17. I have really enjoyed the tires so far and get a lot of positive comments from strangers.
Also have the OME lift installed and the spidertrax's spacers which appeared to be a 100% requirement with this size. Without spacers, the UCAs are millimeters above the widest point of the sidewalls. It appeared that if you had to slam on brakes the UCAs would slam down into the sidewall and shread it! Removing the front mud flaps was required, as well as trimming out small section of the wheel well and the lower corner edge of the front bumper itself. (this is on an 06 limited) I was able to experiment with trying different settings on the caster before trimming and ended up setting it around the mid-point on the cam.
It was rather difficult finding the right size aggresive tread tire for the oem 7.5"/18" rim. Decided on the STT 275s since I hoped it would fit in the spare compartment and also do a lot of traveling and the size seemed like a reasonable compromise. I did a test fit of the spare when my 4 STTs first arrived and thankfully it did fit but is very, very close to the rear sway bar. I now have the permanent full-size spare installed which is pretty cool.
Hopefully in a few days I can post up a few pics of my tires in case anyone is interested. Thanks again for the tips!

All you guys have awesome looking trucks with these tires/suspension upgrades and lifts.
I most probably won't be able to do these mods however I have been off-roading on moderate backcountry trails. My 2007 T4R V6 4x4 is stock and does pretty good on these trails with some dings and dents on the stock skid-plates. I am planning to upgrade to BudBuilt skid plates and Shrockwork rock sliders.
My immediate concern is to replace the stock street Michelin CrossTerrain P265/65R17 tires with AT or LT tires with the next bigger tire size that can be accomodated. All of you seems to have stock rims.
My question to you is, using my stock rims, what is the next higher tire size I can go to without having to upgrade suspension or lifts and rubbing on the wheel-wells?

Love all the 4runners posted up here - Ive been wanting to go a similar route with my sport. Anyways, those of you with the Cooper STTs - what have been your opinions on these tires after some miles are put on? How are they on the street and snow/ice? How well are they wearing?
