Insurance

Does anyone have any type of insurance that specifically covers off-road driving? Is such a thing available?

I've seen it for ATVs and such.

Thanks.

Burgh,

That's a great question, I don't have any additional insurance, but I know my premium is higher than my other vehicles due to the 4x capabilities of the 4R. I'm with Mecury and will check my coverage plan tonight for anything specific.

Hopefully someone else has something supplementle to ponder...

ive got progressive and they say if im more than like 50 feet or something from the road im not covered. i have heard of specialized companies that offer purely offroad insurance, though im not sure how much i trust that.

Your vehicle is covered when off-road just like when it is on-road. I have never seen an exclusion for being off the road.

I have Farmer's and I just talked to my agent and he said I'm covered as long as it's not in an organized competition like having a car and going to the dragstrip or autox.

He said he has had claims for rollovers and tree rubs.

was on the phone with geico today and I asked them if I'm covered when I'm on an off road trail and I damage my vehicle. They said no, I'm only covered while on actual roads or something like that... So I asked if there was an option I could add on to be covered at all times and they said no...
So does that mean I'm not covered when I'm parked in my driveway? cause thats not a road...

>edit:
was on the phone with them again just now changing my plan and I asked the same question to a different rep. he said yes, as long as its in a legal off road area, any collision/accident with another car or tree or whatever is still covered.

I also inquired about if my lift kit is covered or not, he said yes as long as you tell us about it, and if it was under $1000 then my rate will not increase, it will increase (only by like $25) if you report customizations that ad up to over $1000, and every $1000 after that the rate will be higher.
