Intense Vibration HELP NEEDED

Question for you guys...

Symptoms:
-when I drive above 45 mph my whole vehicle vibrates violently
-when I accelerate, it stops
-leaking transmission

Treatment so far:
-checked for loose U-joint on driveshaft, it's tight
-alignment has just been done
-checked for where tranny is leaking, can't find anything

WHAT DO I DO??

Like you said, start with the u-joints. Grab the shaft, try to rotate it, and shake it around. Check the flange on your output shaft, and check the yoke on your pinion side of the axle.

Just because there is no lateral play in the ujoint doesn't mean they aren't necessarily bad... How many miles? Sounds characteristic of bad ujoints pull the driveshaft and turn each end to check for binding

I should try that. They look and move fine while on the vehicle but maybe taking it off and doing a more through inspection will be better.

It's been a while now. I just had everything balanced and aligned. I would really hope that they haven't gone bad in a month but it's possible.

I had the same symptoms when I first bought my 4runner. Ended up being my 3rd member. Drain your 3rd member and see if there's any shiny stuff in there.

Look kid, I am not your neighbor. All I'm saying is if you're known for driving in a manner that has made you infamous in your neighborhood, maybe you've annoyed someone enough to do something about it.

It wouldn't be the first time I've heard of something like that happening.

Rather than having people throw out guesses, I would suggest (As a former master tech) taking it to a qualified Tech who has lots of experience in driveability and NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) issues, and having them check the vehicle out.

I'll try that too. Never heard of that being a problem but it's worth a shot. Nothing else has worked.

Haha. I figured you weren't my neighbor, I was just kidding, as I thought you were too. I highly doubt any neighbor tried anything because I live out in the middle of no where. When I say "known in the neighborhood", it's mostly a exaggeration to be funny, I'm not that serious. But thanks for playing.

I'm short on money and don't have another car available for a while so this is something I really need to figure out myself and fix quick (hopefully). Taking it in won't be an option for a while.

It's been a while now. I just had everything balanced and aligned. I would really hope that they haven't gone bad in a month but it's possible.

Has it snowed recently there? Got an bunch of snow/ice in my old Tacoma and it definitely made mee feel like i was driving unbalanced 35s

Did it happen overnight or was it something gradual?

I was.

But it was also a real possibility.

Cars that had been sabotaged for whatever reason, and were brought in to be repaired, were surprisingly (at least I considered it surprising) common.

Of course that was 20+ years ago, maybe people are friendlier nowadays.

And this was a sudden overnight thing. We have had tons of snow and ice here recently. What happened with that though? How did the snow effect anything that much?

I'd sure hope so! And if this is sabotage, these guys are good because I've checked almost everything and I can't see anything.

when you drive in the snow and it packs in your wheels then melts a bit then freezes again it can throw your balance off a bunch.

Its hard to diagnose without being there. Best thing to do is look at everything you can

Check the rear drums/ inside wheel for fluid. If your diff breather is clogged, you may have blown out the bearing seals.

I have been chasing a vibration for 3 months. Sway bar bushings-check, steering rack bushings- check, tires are less than 5k miles/ balanced - check.

I have gear lube on mine so this is my next step. I have/ need to replace more crap on the the 99k 4runner than my 240K Taco that has simply been abused by me for almost 200k.
