Interest in Custom built 4th gen V8 4.7 Doug Thorley Headers

Would you like the DT headers to have a Highflow catalytic converter?

I too looked into this a few years ago. Kind of neat to see people are still talking about this. Add me to the list if it'll be CA legal. If mine crack, I'll just move 30 min. to the other side of the lake, Nevada!

Does anyone have any data from those who have had theirs replaced from Toyota? It seemed some developed cracks crazy early, like 20K early. Are there any guarantees that the replacement parts won't just crack again?

the headers are available ?

fit on all oem exhaust ?

I think I have one manifold cracked ..

my 4runner have 55k mile

at a reasonable price i will definitely be in. im trying to find headers for my 03 v8 right now. long tubes or shortys doesnt matter to me as long as i can keep the cats on them.

I beleive this thread is dead. Doug Thorley stopped replying after they reviewed and understood what they were dealing with.

IMO, we should start collecting data of those who have already replaced and of those who need to replace their manifolds and with reported mileage. We should take this info back to Toyota with numbers and fight for a better replacement part as there is zero aftermarket support for this.

You can add me to the list
2005 Limited
216000 KM
Toyota replaced both exhuast manifolds (thanks to an after market warrantee) at about 205000 KM
But it's over a year since the new manifolds went in so Toyota will not warrantee it.
Pasenger side is now pooched.
Can't stand that ticking, tired of crankin the stereo to compensate, I'm gonna grab a Pacesetter for now, connect the whole thing to a Borla Catback.

I read up on the 'ticking' sounds, and I assume I have a leaky exhaust manifold. Are there any negative effects keeping these on with the leaks, such as decreased MPG's or engine damage? Do we need to be proactive about fixing these with 145k miles on the engine, or just keep driving it?

It won't do any harm... just annoying ticking noise.

If Doug Thorley continues to get request for v8 4.7l 4runner headers, they will consider making a run for 4runners and see how they do.

Add me to the list, live in Central California so probably couldn't be a test vehicle, but definitely have cash in hand for this.

Definitely interested! I am looking at paying local high performance shop 2k to build me a set of custom stainless headers. They would be awesome, but I would love to encourage a big company to offer these to the masses more.

Not to derail the topic, but how many of you are having issues with your V8 exhaust manifolds and at what mileage? This is the first I have heard of a commonly occurring issue with the V8 manifolds. I have an '07 with the V8 at just under 70k miles with no issues.

Any chance some of you can chime in with how many miles you had before the cracked manifolds surfaced and what part of the country you live in? Premature cracks and failure of exhaust components would not surprise me if you live in the rust belt.

My 'ticking' started around 140k miles on a 2006.

Great. Ruffian is at 136,000 miles. I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2nd set of rims & tires so come winter I can easily swap out sets. Now wondering if it'd be smarter to save that $1,000 for this repair. :nono:
