Would you like the DT headers to have a Highflow catalytic converter?

They are out on the market. Been running mine for about 6 months now.

I'm thinking about getting the 05 ones and adapting them to fit the 03-04 non vvti... My GX has the cracked manifolds

If you did this and it worked you would instantly walk on water. I've called so many places only for them to say "sorry". Please, please post a report if you make this happen.

Not yet. I just did my Cat Back... still have a slight tick at Start-up from what I also think is a cracked header as well. Not up for emissions for another year or so though. I get code P0430 every 6 weeks or so, but when I clear it it stays away for a while. Would this help you pass? Rear Sensor Simulator - Underdog Racing Development

Interesting piece. I will have to keep this in mind. I get P430 codes every day. They seem to come on when I idle. If I clear them and drive, they stay off until I stop and idle for a while.

My whole exhaust is shot. I am going to move forward with the DT headers. The ticking noise is quite loud. For cat back, I am also considering some Magnaflow parts.

My nieghbors brother is really good at tig welding. He built really nice hearders for his son's turbo mustang V8. I am going to get him to put flanges on the headers if possible so that everything will just bolt up.

I see that you PM'd me back in April. Sorry I missed it. I just noticed it now.

Those cats and duals look great! I was actually contemplating that system but went with the gibson to save a few bucks - sounds great but sure wish it was a side exit.

Let me know how your system goes - I'll likely have to do the same and wouldn't mind getting a recco for a shop to do the work. Where are you planning on ordering the DT's from?

I actually have the rear sensor simulator sitting on my shelf right now. My codes haven't shown up again since I redid the catback, but it's still early. You're welcome to try it out on yours if you'd like. It's a simple plug and play.

I'll probably need to replace my factory exhaust manifolds within the next year or so, and these are obviously a great option. Is limited demand the only reason that these weren't made for the two years of non VVTI engines? If so, I hope there is enough interest generated soon in order to justify the creation of DT headers for '03-'04 guys.

I notice when I get on the gas from a dead stop. It sounds like I do have a cracked manifold or something. I can't stand that sound. Almost 94K miles.

Cat back on order now. DT headers are out of stock, apparently at all their distributors as well.

I really wish this thread was deleted or locked. I'm an early 4th Gen owner and I get so excited every time it pops up hoping for a surprise. Don't get your hopes up for headers guys. I've called so many different places asking them about custom fabbing some and every answer is no.

What do you mean? They are available and for sale. If you have an 05-09 that is. As for 03&04, you can take a set off a non-vvti Tundra and make them fit. Only takes minor massaging.

Minor massaging you say? So no deep tissue Swedish type?

how certain are you that non-vvci ones will fit?

Bummer about the headers being out of stock, but I guess that's a good sign for DT - more demand than expected. Good luck with the Cat Back, mine was pretty simple to install... with the exception of a few bolts that had rusted solid. You should start a thread with pics for your install!

Actually - Just had a thought...:peep:
If you're talking to DT, maybe they'd consider a run with High Flow Cats that would bolt into the factory y-pipe. That'd likely solve your code issue since the sensors are before and after the primary cats... nothing after the secondary cats

Another guy in here, I forget who now, put Tundra headers on his truck back before DT's were available. Oil dipstick had to be moved a little and then the pipe by the steering linkage had to be banged around a bit. Tight, but they fit.
I was going to go that route until DT came out with the headers for us.

Can anyone explain, or preferably post a picture of where/how the DT headers weld up to the factory system? thanks

Not sure it'd be a direct connection / weld. If anything you'd need to cut the old ones off before the Cats I think as the factory part is one piece with both the manifold and Cat.

This is a direct fit replacement with the cat on

These are pics of the install done of the Thorley Headers from Bonyfattony - he might have answers that are more clear

I wish it was that easy. I don't have the fab skills and several of the well known shops (sponsors that are here and non-sponsors) have said its too complicated. If it was that easy then why wouldn't a shop like DT just take an old set of Tundra headers and do it? If anybody could do it they could but I distinctly remember them saying there was too much that needed to be done. I like your thinking t-man but unfortunately us early 4th Genners (not to be mistaken with Bruce Jenner or Caitlin or whatever that thing is) are SOL unless of course we fork over some serious dough.

P.S. - once again, I just got my hopes up only to be shot down in a blaze of glory. Damn you!!!

Read through that, really not difficult at all. They bent the dipstick tube a little so it was lined up right and then banged in a tub that was to close to the steering shaft. I found a local shop that was going to build me a set from scratch for 2k, then I found out about this and he said he would make them fit for ~500. You can't just go to a muffler shop though, they are just glorified gorilla's usually that know very little, you need to go to a shop that works on high performance stuff, Tuner cars, Etc and they will do it. Either way, check out what Nathan did, he's even running a Supercharger on his 4.7 now!
