Well after a 800 mile road trip, I can't stand the exhaust leak. Ordered up some headers this morning.:music:

This is with the new headers, newly built true dual-exhaust with dual-in and dual-out super 50 magnaflow exhaust. Kept 2 of the cats (ones attached to the header) and got rid of the third, no resonator. SURPRISINGLY there is a low amount of drone in the cabin, even at highway (~75mph) speeds.

Are you guys using any kind of balance pipe, like H or X? Or thats what the dual muffler sort of does.

Dual in/out muffler acts like an h pipe.

Well this has been a nightmare of a job. Took me two days working straight through pretty much to remove the old headers. All 16 studs were rusted, seized and stripped as I attempted to remove them. Had to use 14mm vise grip sockets and work my way down to 13mm, 12mm, 11mm and 10mm to strip as much material as possible until the nut was no longer existent. We ended up sawing the runners off one by one to gain more clearance and on the drivers side we sawed off the steering shaft since it looked like it needed replacement anyways. The truck is still at the shop with the fabricator doing what he does best now.

Note to anyone tackling this job themselves. Prepare to use a sawzall, cut-off wheel, grinder, vise grip sockets and a torch. It's a pain in the @$$ but it is doable. My vehicle has 193,000 miles and is a complete rust bucket underneath so it may have added to the difficulty. I will update when I go to pick it up.

I'm having my fabricator build a custom SS T304 2.5" setup using: Magnaflow HF cats, Magnaflow 18" muffler; Vibrant Performance resonator, 2-1 collector, mandrel bends, flanges and muffler tip. I also purchased new Denso 234-4138 upstream o2 sensors, 16 OEM manifold studs and OEM exhaust gaskets.

I get all my OEM parts from Toyota Online Parts | toyotaonlineparts.com | Toyota Parts Online. 16 studs cost $45.44 and 16 nuts were $21.92. They're located in Richmond, VA so they get to Northern VA in one day by standard mail.

It's showing that the parts are for the 05-09 V8 w/VVTI. Can anyone confirm the studs and nuts are compatible?

Both are confirmed to work for 2003-2004

I imagine that's 8 studs at $5.25, 8 studs at $2.38, and 16 nuts at $1.40? When I priced it out on that site I got closer to $86 plus $16 in shipping.???

If you order from partsouq, it will come out to $60-65 w/shipping. Enter in the part numbers that others have listed here-they will list alternate Toyota numbers that are equivalent.

Burtman is correct that you can reuse the manifold gaskets for the 2003-2004 as they are multilayer steel but I figured what the heck my truck has 193,000 miles.
