Interior illumination (Switches)

Hey all,

Spending my first week with the 4Runner and last night was my first time driving it at night. I noticed that the Sunroof switch gear, the mirror and dimmer rheostat and all three stalks on the column do not illuminate. Is this normal? If so then this is about the only thing that has taken me by surprise. Fumbling to operate switches at night should be a no no.

Normal. In a few days they become 2nd nature and you don't need lights for any of them.

In all candor if people worried about fumbling for switches then manufacturers would standardize on locations. As it is now every single vehicle has switches and controls in different locations. If you bought a Ford Edge after driving the 4Runner for example it wouldn't matter if the switches were lit or not. It is a totally different cockpit. You would fumble for a few days, lighted or unlighted.
