Take a small screwdriver, push in gently from the bottom or the outer side of the lens assembly. Pry gently. When it has popped out pry the other side, the whole assembly will come out. Disconnect power lead. Take the screwdriver, gently pry lens off. Pull bulb out, replace.
 
Hey DSMGX, do report on the HP Festoon bulb over the 9led, cause thats what I'm running right now, and honestly, thats the only part of my led mod that I'm unhappy with.

I can understand why. Thats what I was using. I swapped my 9LED with the High Power version. They are much nicer IMO. The light is brighter, and dispursed more. These are the bulbs I used: 3022-CWHP2 . They are on page 2. Here is the description:

High Power 2-LED Festoon bulb
30mm (1.2 inch long) 12 VDC Festoon Base Bulb
Wide 120 Degree Viewing Angle - Available with 2 Cool White or Warm White High Power LEDs

FULL INFO It's the first one on the list. First picture in the diagram

HP white 3022-CWHP2. Kept all interior lights white. I travel alot, usually after dark. I wanted the ability to see everything clearly when its gets dark.

For the gauge color in the 4Runner, I wish Toyota chose white gauge lighting, like I have in my Sequoia. IMO it looks way nicer than the amber.

You guys might want to check out www.oznium.com

They have an awesome setup for the overhead dome lights and it comes with an assortment of festoon type adapters as well as other adapters for different applications. its the "thin flexible 5mm LED dome light", but they have 2 others as well and if you want different colors, they has several to choose from.

I split my order between superbrightleds.com and Oznium.

Awesome lighting choices from either company (depending on what you want) and really fast shipping times from both.

Search for the map-light mod to correct this situation.
 
hey DSMGSX,
if u are good with soldering i remember some guy with tacoma changed out all the leds in the instrument cluster with white ones. its definitely doable, but make a single mistake and its gonna look like crap

On a side note, the search really doesn't work well for me for some reason. Searching for Map Light only brought up this thread and I've had similar trouble searching for other things. I eventually just Googled it and found it that way. :confused:

I saw the article. I'm NOT that talented or patient. Plus even if I was, I'd have to own this vehicle a little longer before I would start making a major change like that it. LOL! :D

I replaced all my interior wedge and festoon bulbs with the cool white high power ones from SuperBrightLEDs.com and they look great! very white light when you compare em to stock which is a dim yellow. It was $50 total for all 8 bulbs. Looks so much better.

for those of u are interested the High POwer 194/168 bulb are now in stock. Just ordered 10 hp bulbs for my doors and license plate light and couple of those festoon for the dome.

sweet!! i'd like to do something like this. are the lights that illuminate the floor controllable as far as brightness?
 
I think you'd be married to the single setting unless you put in some sort of a dimmer switch. LEDs will function with those as well.
 
superbriteled Bulb failure

Hi,

After only a few months one of my rear gate lights has failed (4410-x9 LED Festoon bulb)-- very annoying blinking all the time. Not a bit deal, but I want to post this so led buyers can track quality problems.
 
i've got a newb question. Are these wedge and festoon dome lights simply a plug and play situation? i.e. remove oem bulb and these just plug in and it's good to go? does the dome require that 'card' with the led's embedded on it or just plug in the festoons and thats it?

First timer here... I've been Googling my ass off... but I got some red LED's to use as map lights for my 4runner, but I'm unable to find a definitive guide on how to install them.

From what I read, it seems like I pop out the clear plastic housings? What's the best way to do that? I just want to be 100% sure before I start messin with things.
