Interior Plastic Scratch Repair

Hi guys, I wanted to see if anyone had any good methods for repairing scratches or at least making them less noticeable for your own sanity or to enhance resale value.

I understand some people use a heat gun for minor scratches.

Is there also a color code for the dark grey plastic that's used on the inside for deep, large gouges I can use on damage like this?

I would love to see if anyone has a solution to this also, bought a 2015 4runner yesterday with a few nicks on the dash plastic near the glove box and on the plastic door pull pillars, plus the drivers interior door release handle is scratched like crazy. Everything else was perfect with the truck and the price was amazing, would love to get the interior sorted.

I don't know of any easy fixes and touching up the color wont help unless you can match the texture.

That material looks like it is kinda soft. If so, an interior repair person can easily do it. I have had numerous used cars that needed this kind of repair done prior to delivery. They were always great repairs. You would never know they were a problem.
If you want to do it yourself get a repair kit that allows you to mix colors to match yours.

Hi alex,

Perhaps you and a few others may find this thread helpful: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/228073-center-console-refinish-ll.html There's no question that the Gen-5 4Runner's interior is subject to scratches and scuff marks... Let us know how you make out with the problem,
