intermittant wiper

On my 2004 SR5 I've noticed that the intermittant wiper funciton on my wiper stalk is starting intermittantly (no joke) not work. I have to cycle it through the low and high speed setting and then eventually it will work.
Has anyone had this happen and is there a fix beyond replacing the $talk.

Could be stalk control or wiper motor pulse board module.
