Hope you guys can help! My neighbor has a 2005 T4R 4.0 4wd automatic with about 230K miles on it. He recently had his CEL come on which revealed 2 codes. C1241 and C1340 Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So low battery voltage would trigger that code and set all those lights off on the dash? That's interesting, may be time for an alternator.

I assume the C1340 is referring to the rear axle locker? Not sure his truck has lockers?

Before replacing just the alternator, go to a part store and have them test both the battery and alternator, it could be both or one or the other!

I agree however i'm not sold it's either one honestly. Truck starts up strong even in 0 degree weather every time. No signs of low voltage or charging issues at all. Odd thing is, she drove it this weekend and the lights all went out and haven't come back. Wondering if she got gas and then they all went out. Oddly enough, I've read a bad gas cap can actually trigger VSC and Trac lights along with these CEL codes. We'll see what happens.
