Intermittent gasoline smell coming through vent

When driving, every once in a while it's like I'll get a shot of gasoline smell coming through the vent from the engine bay. Not often or predictable. It just happens sometimes. Any ideas?

Start with making sure the vacuum line for the fuel pressure regulator isn't cracked or is at least attached to the nipple. Check all other lines for cracks.

A thorough examination of the injector seats though may be necessary. When was the last time you were under the hood doing any work?

check the hose from the fuel tank check valve to the charcoal canister since the tank vents into the canister.
