Another weekend another trip...
On the weekend a small group of us went on an extended one-day run in B.C. and Crowsnest pass. We met up bright and early Saturday morning to begin the first leg of our drive to the Invermere area. I decided to try something a little different with my camera and only used a UV filter instead of the lens hood, so unfortunately some of the pics didn't turn out so well. It's a good setup if you can spend time framing your shot and waiting for the right light, but not so good if you can't adjust for the angle of the sun. JJ Abrams would be proud of the lens flare in some of the pics though.
Lined up Saturday morning to transfer food into coolers and fridges.

After the food was loaded into fridges and coolers we made our way west on the Trans Canada then turned south on Highway 93. There was a bit of rain on the way but for the most part the weather was quite nice. We stopped in Invermere for some lunch before heading out to do some exploring.
A fine looking lineup stopped to air down.

Every truck looks good with backdrops like these.

We drove up the road and past a small parking lot where there was a hot spring then onto the road less travelled. After passing a sign cautioning to slow down for horses on the road we encountered said horses.

We got to the trail and slowly made our way to the destination. There were a few obstacles and a river running down part of the trail to make things interesting along with the gorgeous views.

The reason for the water running down the trail appeared to be a beaver dam.

There were a couple spots where the trail had washed out and some berms to keep larger vehicles out.

We got to the hot springs but I didn't take any pics because there were some people in them who had hiked in from a different direction. According to some locals we ran into on the way the pools had been wiped out previously and someone who lives up there rebuilt them on his own. A little warning that the pools could be wiped out again in the future.

You can see damage to the trail likely from the same water flows that wiped out the pools.

One of the guys decided to see if we could make it down that way. Getting down the obstacle was fine but just ahead there was a section where the trail started to crumble and give way under his tire. With a berm on the right there was no way to get our wide trucks around that section.

After we got ourselves turned around we headed back out the way we came.

Having a little fun on the way out.

On the way back out we took a slight detour to a lake. Considering the altitude the water temperature wasn't bad at all and it was incredibly clear.
