Looks like a great idea for the tank. Only concern would be a rear end collision, but then again a lot of vehicles have the tank towards the back.

I will have enough steel back there (4x4labs rear bumper) and a skid underneath so it should be safe. And I did some reading on the Pinto apparently the filler neck broke away during low speed collisions and the tank would also push into protruding bolts nearby.

I always forget how much work fabrication is. Grinding, welding, more grinding. Its not finished (I'm making a few special modifications) but I'm glad I painted it because the rain surprised me this morning.

Flexed my truck, still have a 1" gap on my bump stops. Needs to fit at least 37's with 2" extended suspension links... Though maybe I'll start by cutting 2" off. Nothing a plasma cutter can't handle.

Instead of mowing my lawn today I took off my stock fuel tank skid in preparation for me measuring and making a new one.

Or maybe this one is covered under some sort of warranty? :doh:

I tried to put in the Fumoto 103N valve when I did my oil change yesterday, but it would only thread in halfway by hand. It looked like it had the same exact thread pitch as the plug when I lined them up, but wouldn't thread in easy and I was too chicken to put a wrench on it so I reinstalled the plug. :shrug: :yield:

Sorry, no pictures of the new oil stains in the driveway. Oily hands.

My brother's 14" rear Kings and Diamond 9.5" rear axle should be arriving shortly... Which means I can steal his elocker 3rd member. :guitar3:

I crossed a few things off the list today:

Rinsed out the frame rails in preparation for some Eastwood Internal Frame Rail Coating. I got a good amount of dirt out, the adjustable spray nozzle worked pretty well for this.



Also installed a Kenwood DDX395 head unit. Pretty snazzy. Had flashbacks to PLC class for the first 30 minutes until I found the head unit's wiring harness. It made a lot more sense after finding that. :brick:
It'll be nice to have a USB stick connected when I'm cruising in the middle of nowhere without radio reception.

Just these guys zip-tied underneath my cube lights hooked up to resistors to stop hyperflash. Looks ghetto but has worked well so far.

Glad all you guys are appreciating the truck.

It is not finished yet, in fact it still looks like what it does in the most recent pictures above, the spare tire is sitting in the cargo area making it smell like a tire shop inside (not a bad aroma really). However, I received the 4x4labs tire carrier, ladder and jerry can combo attachments so I'll have plenty to fabricate coming up.

I'll give my buddy at work the plasma table files to finish the bumper and a fuel tank skid sometime this week.

To go along with my new HU I installed a JL C1-690 speaker kit and Tacotunes speaker adapters. Sounds good to me, might need a cheap sub setup next.

My buddy plasma cut and bent the fuel skid along with some small bumper parts. $45 of 3/16" steel. The skid will need trimmed but I think it will work.



I cut the tubing today as well. Some cool rear bumper projects coming up.
