Haha, in time.
New years day at Tuttle. Busiest I've seen it here. My brother left his 37s on even though he couldn't turn sharp with them and flex. Basically could drive circles around us. Put me to shame. :yield: Midtravel and 37's seems doable, though he's getting the Marlin kit when it comes out which will help a ton with fitting.
End goal for my 4runner (if I don't get sidetracked with another project vehicle) to address belly clearance and weight:
- Fit 37's and Method bead-grip wheels to air them down to ~10psi.
- This will require Marlin LT or another IFS LT kit w/ upgraded steering rack.
- Rear coilover shocks with axle mounts flush with axle tube.
- Relocate fuel tank for clearance and durability.
- Lighten her up as much as possible. New seats, 1/8" AR skids for now. Lighter links and maybe bumpers later.
I'll try and get the rear coilovers/seats/skids by the time our Rubicon trip hits in 200 days. Maybe 37's if I can do it with mid travel.
Shock mounts were hanging me up.

Raced on the way home. Basically V8 with 35's vs V6 with 37s. FJ did pretty well.

Got the AFE CAI installed. Honestly I like the throttle noise better before the AFE. Seemed smoother, deep, and efficient before. Now its not as refined sounding but maybe long tubes will fix that.
How do you like the AFE? Worth the money?

I liked how it sounded before, and can't tell a difference in power so no, not really worth it in my opinion.
Been wanting to race him for a while now. I think a race from 60mph to 90 I would fare better in. But we are both basically turtles.

Great weather this weekend, actually did some stuff.
Picked up a harbor freight tool box to put some welding supplies and other tools in. I hadn't planned to put a tool box there but it dropped in perfectly, no modification necessary.
Decided to tackle the winch install today after seeing how easy it would be. Started at 3:45 was done at 5:00. It even works. Warn VR Evo 10-S. Usually I don't start a mod this late in the day but it was so darn easy.
Had to bend some lines and cut a few unused brackets but it fits.

If you ultimately want the marlin kit, I’d say wait. It could take a while to sell the TC kit. People want them for next to nothing because they’re used. I dunno, tough call.
How easy or difficult is the wiring for the winch?

I thought I could unload it for close to what I bought it for, being only used for 2 years maybe. But maybe you're right.
It comes with two leads from the winch. Red and black. I wired it directly to the battery. Job done. LOL. I assumed I would wire it through my switchpros in a way that lets me enable it from there but I may just leave it wired hot to my battery unless someone says differently.

On one hand it'll solve this little problem.
I won't have to tub the firewall or limit steering as much.
And I'll have an excuse to buy new tires before our trip.
I could also crank the rear up 1" with planned coilovers and crank up the front 1" with more downtravel headroom to match the rear.
On the other hand I could probably fit 37's without the kit if I had really wanted.
I should probably buy it eh?

20% is a big discount on a kit like that. If you’re serious, why not? I was the one heckling you about it the other day (matching the rear width) lol.

Marlin LT is nothing but a pipe dream right now. Whenever they actually do release it, it will be sold out immediately and then be another year or so waiting for them to restock, which then the process will start all over again. I love the kit, want it myself, but lets be realistic here. Marlin sucks at actually delivering product.

There's a reason nobody has come out with a kit like this before, its competing with offroad racing shops like Dirt Designs or Solo Motorsports where people have them weld on custom everything in a month's time.
Its a huge undertaking and I don't blame him for taking a while to develop a bolt on kit for us, especially since his name is directly attached to it.
Rumor is February/March release time. Right after KOH.

I'm not saying it's not, like I said, I want a kit too. One for the 4R and one for my '99 Taco. But it's still just a pipe dream at this point. They spin everyone up way early and then take forever before having a limited production release. They will not be able to keep up with the demand once they do release it. I'll be seriously surprised if we see something by the end of the year and still, it won't be enough to fill the demand.

I think the price they charge will keep demand low enough they can keep up with production. If they are smart they'll price it at least double what a normal LT kit costs. That'll separate the men from the boys.
