LOL updates? what are those?
toyota has had the "update coming summer 2012" banner up on the entune site for months.
Ummm...summer's over toyota.
and how would i know an update if i saw one since they dont state wha the current, latest version is.
Sorry for all the sarcasm, but toyota sucks in the entune department.
The version I have is what mine came with a month ago when i bought it.
I gotta say i'm a bit annoyed by the guy who did a drive by "i got messaging to work" and didnt include the "how" part.
I just updated to ios6 and its all greyed out for me in entune. Would have bee nice to know what he did...
Is this compatible with LE NAV? I have had no luck getting SMS notification to work on my 2011 LE. IP4 with ios6 btw.
Anybody?
I guess I am confused. I have the JBL NAV. I thought it was either on or the other. Can you have entune with JBL NAV?
So then the new iOS 6 SMS display feature is a no go on the 2011 JBL NAV?
I will be bummed.
Email protocol still does not work, it is grayed out as usual. Also, calender doesn't work as far as I know, but I believe if someone sends you a calender invite to an event, it will show as a notification like the text messages do. I haven't received one while driving but someone told me that works.
Here are the exact steps I took to enable MAP correctly. I'm sure most these steps aren't unnecessary but I will explain EXACTLY what I did in case nothing else works.
1. "Forget" old bluetooth connection on iPhone (in Bluetooth settings)
2. Delete old connection pairing on Entune Display Audio
4. Turn car off (just to reset everything)
5. Turn iPhone on and turn Bluetooth back on, till is says disoverable
6. Turn car on and go to your Entune screen, go to Setup>Bluetooth>Pair New Device
8. Now pair phone and hit confirm on phone and car when prompted, I hit the phone confirmation first, then the car. (not sure if order matters)
9. Go to the phone page on your Entune unit, where you can normally can see your outgoing/incoming calls.
10. Click the bottom left icon, the "Message" button, it will tell you "Text Message are not available" (same as what you are used to).
11. Now shut your car off (don't ask me why I did it this way)
12. Open your iPhone Bluetooth settings again and cllick on the new car connection you made to get into it's settings (the name of your car or whatever it is named by default "CAR MULTIMEDIA" I think)
14. You will see the option to turn on "Notifications", so turn it on.
16. Turn your car on and go to the message tab again on the phone screen. It will take a minute and to set up and stop loading. (Note when it's finished, it doesn't transfer any old messages to the inbox, only messages received going forward when your phone is on and your car is on).
17. Now have a friend send you a message to test it, it should say "Text Message Recieved" when one comes in, and you can click on them and play them over the audio using the NAV lady's voice.
Nick
I was able to get the messages to come up using the steps posted above, awesome thanks! But... when I was using the map app to navigate through DC the other night I received a text, hit the screen to read the text and the map decided to redirect me. ARGH! I may have fat fingered it but it happen twice anyone have a similar issue?
Undert0e,
I think you actually can't hit the overlay that pops up that says New Text Message. It's not a button, just a notification in my experience. You actually have to navigate to the message app, (I just hit the" Phone Handle" hard button above the Apps hard button, then you click the message button on the display.) Then you can read or hear your text.
Not sure why they don't make a shortcut button pop up when the text comes in. Maybe on the next firmware update.
