Ipad Mini To replace Headunit?

I did some searching tonight, but due to the bad location of the Headunit, it seems as if no one has mounted their ipads in the dash on their 3rd Gens. Right now I have a 2001 4Runner with the standard 6-disc CD changer. Does anyone know what products I might need to run my Ipad Mini Cellular as my main unit into the stock Amp?

I've looked at the HRT iStreamer, as it has a 12V charging option of which I could rig into my unused cigarette lighter. Any Thoughts?

I've seen this done on U-Tube...all were in bigger vehicles like Ford and Dodge one ton trucks...but never saw anything like a 4Runner. The ones I saw had like an iPad docking station they started with. Then they Fiberglassed the docking station where the radio was.

When finished, they were about to slide their iPads out of the docking station. It was way cool...been thinking about it since I saw it. Would take some serious modifications, though!

Most people are going to go with a full aftermarket sound system if they're running an ipad in the dash, so the chances of finding anything about factory integration are slim to none.

Most of the time they run a regular headunit mounted somewhere else, but a few have used external digital processors, the car audio forums will probably be the best palce to ask about it.

And the 4Runner dash honestly shouldn't be too terrible as far as mounting goes, like said earlier, most people get a docking station and fiberglass it in, the dash being flat should make that relatively easy compared to some I've seen.

There was a post on here somewhere that showed someone who did it. They weren't a member on here though. It was a youtube tv show of some car audio place, and one of the guys that worked there drove a 4runner and installed an iPad. There was a single din sony head unit behind the iPad and the iPad just controlled the radio through bluetooth.
