iPhone 5 Info Thread

That's good, I thought you had to buy each one separately

They call it a 3 in 1. One side is a fish eye the other side is a maco/wide angle. You turn it to get the different effect. I have a little trip with it so I will set it up and see how it actually compares to the stock FOV.

I'm still waiting for iPhone 5 screens to come down. My customers aren't going to pay $150 for a new screen.

??? Do you mean that it costs $150 to repair a broken screen?? The screen/display is state-of-the-art that is unheard of prior to iphone intro. And it's the best calibrated display on any phone, TV, or computer screens. In other words, Apple was/is very meticulous in making the screen.

It's probably not apple that he is getting screens from. I could be wrong but I know a local company that will replace both front and back glass on a 4 or 4s inn like 10 different colors for $150 so that's definitely not coming from apple.

I'm not buying them from Apple hahah.
I have a little Apple Repair business. I do front and back for $80. Which is like $30 profit. My iPhone 5 customers want new screens and the aftermarket parts aren't there yet.

Still loving my iPhone (got it the day released). The addition of the new google maps finalized the package to perfection now. Technology will always leap frog as to who has the best what, but I will be happy with this phone for a long time.

I couldn't agree more. Although I (personally) have never had any issue with the built in maps for where I am - I'm glad to have google maps back as it just has more features (and better mapping data).

BTW, now that I have a better phone, I've been playing with some apps that just didn't like my old 3gs. You should check out "Action Movie FX". It's free, and it's fun. You can basically be in your own "action movie". It works quite well on the iphone 5. The app is free and it also won apple's award for best app this year. Check it out on the app store.

If you have kids, today's a great day to pickup all the games by halfbrick studios. All free, 24 hours only.

Are people already breaking the phones or wanting colored glass or something?

For me, everytime that i plug and unplug the USB cord, i can feel the phone move. Easiest way is to put the phone into the back hard plastic cover and move your phone. You should have some movement. I have had 2 Defenders (early & late release) and RealTree do that. I use anything really for cushioning...electrical tape folded in two, paper, etc.. All work well. The main thing is to avoid movement within the case because if sand particles etc. get in there, the rubbing will cause damage to case and/or screen. Remember, although your screen is Gorilla Glass 2, it can still scratch easily with sand particles rubbing against it. (I wish that future screens be made of sapphire!)

FWIW - My Otterbox defender has been working fine. It doesn't seem to move at all. I have a white iPhone in the white/gray otterbox defender. I don't see any rubbing on the screen and I've checked it a couple of times to make sure. I bought this case right as the 5 released. Also, the otterbox on my 3gs was on it for 2 years and I never saw any issue with screen when I sold the 3gs. I just pulled the thing apart again, and I can't tell I've had a case on it, so I think i'm good. :)

Good to hear indeed!! I guess the rare few cases that you read about just rattled me a little. I do like the Defender a lot...but the bulk of it is what turns me off (a little). The bonus to it is, of course, the enhanced cell signal (and to a lesser extent, Wifi).

Thanks Thai for posting alternatives.......

Are we really doing the bashing, again? I would like to see at least one iphone thread that remains ontopic. If you don't like it, please move on and/or start your own thread. It's getting rediculous, yet again. For the record, I have no issues with either of you guys - but sometimes, your rants and bashes just do nothing but detract from the enjoyment of the topic, for me, and I'm sure for many others.

Hey Thai, just wanted to ask if you had any links or anything to any quality issues with the 5? I ask because my store has definitely seen a higher number of doa devices and was wondering what gives.

I mean, all phones have their issues but it seems like we've seen more with the 5 lately. The 4s we saw very few but I remember about two weeks ago I had to doa 3 in one day all for different reasons.

And for anyone reading........this is a serious question. Not bashing anyone or any device, just trying to get some info.
