I leave my ipod plugged into the usb port, and I keep getting the error 3 message.

What's up?

Thanks

I get the same error using my iphone, the solution seems to be to unplug the ipod before you shut off the truck. Whenever I shut off the truck with it plugged in and then restart the truck I get the error. Even if it was plugged in when I shut off the truck if I unplug it before I start the truck up again it will not show an error.

I leave my ipod plugged into my USB all the time and have never had a problem. No error 3 message for me. Maybe you could call the dealership and ask them what that code means?

You guys mind posting what model and generation? I'm thinking of resurrecting my 4th gen 20GB for storage in the Runner. I'm wondering if this isn't a new versus old ipod issue.

I think I figured it out. U have to turn off the audio system before u turn off the car. When I turn off car, without turning off radio, error 3.

I don't turn off my audio system at all and I've never had this issue. When I turn my vehicle on afterwards, my Navi systems says 'acquiring ipod connection' then just continues to play whichever song was last playing.

The ipods work fine, the iphone doesnt, well sometimes it does. The manual confirms it. Also make sure you connect to itunes and have the latest firmware on your pod.

New 4Runner iPod Issue

I just picked up a new 4Runner Limited two weeks ago (traded in a 2004). Hooked up my 5th gen iPod thru the USB port. It plays well, but from time to time the sound stops, cracks up a little and misses a few notes and then returns. It does it sporadically. It plays fine in my other car (370Z -- thru USB port) and when I am at the gym using with ear buds with no problems at all, so I know it's an issue with the 4Runner. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Taking it to dealer tomorrow to see if they can resolve the issue.

5th gen iPod might not be on the supported list. What year 4Runner? '12?
