ipod in glove box

i have a 120gb ipod that i leave in the comparment below the stereo all of the time. the only time i take it out is to add more music. and here in CO its from -15 to 100 during the year. no problems at all with it.
now that you people know, please dont go breaking in to my car :AK47:

I searched first, seriously. I have a usb connection in the glove box. It works very well with mu ipod. Does anyone actually leave their ipod in the glove box for an extended time? Hours, days? I am just thinking about hot summer days and if any damage will be done, thats all. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I've got an original video (30GB) that stays in the car for months on end... I only take it out to add songs.

I've had a nano in my glove box for close to 2 years. anywhere from -10 to 115. Never had a problem, except now my CD player doesn't read CD's, and on some very rare occasions the Ipod will freeze when using it outside the car.... oh yeah. and I wore out the next track button.

I leave my itouch in the car all of the time and still no problems after 3 years.

I leave my ipod under the radio in my truck. It's been in freezing and melting temperatures, no problems yet.

In my audi i had my ipod in the glove box for 3 years, never took it out until i got the 4runner.

And thats in NY with cold winters and hot summers. You should be fine.

i leave my ipod in the car all the time and it get around 109-125 in the summer and so far nothing, these things are build tough man

I would recommend against leaving an ipod with a screen in - solid state electronics are fairly resistant to temperatures but lcds can fail fairly easily - there's a liquid in there which expands and contracts with heat. The other issue is the impact of extreme cold on batteries but if the ipod is constantly plugged in that's not going to stop it working when in your truck. I am in IT - aside from the more significant security risks we tell staff not to leave laptops in vehicles for these reasons. USB key idea or a nano would be your best bet.

I've had mine in my glove box of my Runner since August and it spent the previous 2+ years in the glove box of my Tacoma. No issues.

I've left it plugged in for about a week or so but nothing happened....guess I got lucky considering it was pretty hot out at the time...more careful about it now.Always better to take it in with you each time.

I left an ipod nano in the glove compartment of 4runner for 2 years and the nano still works fine today.

We have broad temperature ranges, 0 degrees F or below in the winter 90 - 100 in the summer.

Same here, in the summer, temps get over 100 and in the winter temps get down to the single digits. My iPod has been in the glove box for over 4 years. Only pulled it out a few times to sync it.

I have known screens to crack due to temperature change, but my ipod and netbook that live in the glove box have been fine thus far.

We have an Xterra Pro-X4 in the family that came with that set up, through the glovebox. Ipod gets left in there all the time. If it wasn't hidden it would be taken out so the truck isn't broken into (not that anyone would do that in this area).

We haven't had it long enough but it likely will be taken out when it's extremely hold or cold. I don't think it really matters but just to be on the safe side. My GPS gets left in my Runner ALL the time (in the console) and it didn't break or anything.
