Iridium plugs for the 4.7 V8

Time for the new plugs in my V8 4runner! Dealer wants over $300 just for the plugs! NOT EVEN INSTALLED!

Anyone here have some sources for the same Denso Iridium plugs?

Verify that your 04 uses the same as my 08, but I got mine off Amazon. Same as the OEM plug, but not in a Toyota box.

I sold parts for 4 years, no way markup is even remotely close to that.

Even at say $20 a plug, it's still only $160... By his math they're charging at minimum $37.50 a plug to be $300. That's ridiculous and insane.

i still dont believe it unless a quote is given. Thats just absurd and above Toyota "list" price by almost 100%

I used to use Conicelli Partznet for my 03 and my 08, but I don't see the iridium plugs on their site.

RockAuto is where I do most of my parts shopping unless I need it immediately. Here is a screenshot of the Iridium options. Looks like just over $5 for Denso plugs.

I'm looking for Denso plugs for my 2003 v8 and the Owner's manual doesn't say which p/n to get, it just says not to adjust the gap on Iridium plugs.

I see 3 different part numbers for the Denso Iridium's on Rockauto's website, 5304 (Gap .044), 4702 (Gap .040) and 3297 (Gap .044). Which ones should I get?

Also, do you use anti-seize on your plugs? thanks

Mine is also a 2003 SR5 V8 4.7L, just bought and installed Denso SK20R11 Iridium spark plugs, replacing the old NGK plugs. My MPG just jumped 2-3 mpg, old worn NGKs plugs caused running at higher RPM, even at idle - amazing! Couldn't believe it if I didn't see it.

Denso part # 3297 is what you want and yes, always use a little antiseize on the threads. A little goes a long way so don't over do it.

Dealer parts in general are very expensive. But even that price is very very high. I usually by locally at Sanel Brothers. Prices are good and they carry quality parts.

If don't buy from a dealer (which I recommend) then stick with Denso or NGK plugs. These are the OEM manufacturers for Toyota/Honda/Nissan and several others. They both make quality plugs.

I have a 04 V8. I have the Denso SK20R11 iridium (Toyota part 90080-91180) in my truck and they cost 10.37 from my dealer when installed when I first got the truck. You can buy them right now on Amazon for only 6.53 with free shipping. I wonder what your parts guy was smoking?

NGK Plugs

I went with the stock NGK Iridium Plugs for my V8 T4R. Obviously, this is debatable, but in my experience you should stick with the stock plugs. The manufacturer does a lot of research to determine the right plug for their vehicles. To me, it's another thing that makes a Toyota reliable.

Anyway, I bought mine at Advance Auto. I waited until they had a 20% off coupon (they have them all the time online) and spent @ $50. Grab two packets of anti-seize lube ($2 at register). Grabbed my ratchet, extension, and spark plug socket.

- Disconnected negative battery terminal (just a habit).
- Disconnected coil on plug connector.
- Removed old plugs (two require the air box to be removed first...easy just three bolts).
- Dab a pea size amount of lube on the plug.
- Install new plugs.
- Done.

Took an hour to replace them all. Good luck.
