Hey guys, Ive been on here for a while but I never Really thought of doing build thread since i didn't really have much. But i thought Id give it a shot to keep track of the things that I've done to the runner so far, so here goes...

1998 4Runner
3.4 Automatic (no lockers on this)
161k Miles

I bought this in early January. My dad found it and told me about it so i pulled the trigger on the purchase.After looking at the carfax I found that I got real lucky, the owner before me took care of the drive and it had a clean title. The truck was originally sold 10 miles from my house and it stayed in California its whole life. I thought the truck had a leak at first but it ended up just having a lose oil filter. The following things are what I've done to it so far


Engine:
-K&N Cold air intake
-Synthetic Oil
-K&N Oil filter
-Drive belts changed at 91k miles

Interior:
-Swapped out the old cloth seats with leather seats from a 00 limited
-Full LED bulb swap
-Husky liners all around

Wheels and Tires:
17" Sequoia Limited Wheels
BFG AT KO2 275/70/17

Suspension:
-Tundra TRD Coils part number

Exterior:
-00-02 Headlights
-Frosted corner lights
-replaced the damaged fender
-Plasti dipped the emblems
-Sanded and re-painted all the metal weather stripping

Week 1

Week one, I got the truck registered and found a killer deal in Palo Alto for some leather seats...

It originally was sitting for a long time so when I went to smog it the tech told me that because it was sitting for so long (1 month) the computer wasn't registering correctly... I got a 30 day permit to drive without a smog and then when I took it back it passed with flying colors.

Week 2

The previous owner ran into something so the driver side fender was messed up. I went ahead and purchased one on Amazon and got it replaced. I also found a replacement bumper but the bumper was damaged when I received it in the mail so I had to return it. I decided not to change the bumper yet because I was thinking of doing the fat lip conversion so I put the front end on hold for a bit

Week 3-4

I wanted to find a transmitter that could work with the truck. I knew it had an alarm system but the hard part was finding a transmitter that worked with it. I tried probably 3-4 different transmitters but none of them worked. Then I found this guy on eBay that sold them. Specially for th rs300 alarm unit that the truck came with. I asked him if he had anything for my truck and he sent me this link... It looks pricy but it was well worth it. The transmitter works now and I can lock I with the remote. Also I got some Blank Toyota keys to match the transmitter. The transmitter came in a authentic Toyota replacement shell. The keys were also legit Toyota keys.

Week 5-6

I purchased a cold cold air intake for it... I was thinking of doing the deck plate mod but I've had K&N intakes on my other vehicles and I liked what they did. I got mine through Amazon since I had the free 2 day shipping through my prime account

I also purchased this dome light from Amazon, for $2.15 it's one hell of a bargain. I'll try to attach a photo with how bright the dome light is... It's pretty crazy for the price, I got 2, one for the dome and one for the cargo area

Week 6-8 LIFT GOT ORDERED !!!

So I decided to lift the truck and I went ahead and ordered it. Here are the parts and numbers. Also go with wheelers off-road. They change the bushings on the rear shocks already so you don't have to do that yourself. The only negative is that they can't quote you on shipping so they have to contact you after you place the order. It took an extra 2 days for them to call me to finish the transaction but they're great because they have everything you'll need. Also the TRD coils are found pretty easy, look through the dealers and find the best price, I paid $118 per coil for mine. My lift is a simple 2" lift, nothing crazy. I also installed the 10mm trim packer for the rear and placed the front shock on the 2nd perch for the infamous driver side lean.

Week 8-10

I ordered a set of tires from the discount tire direct eBay store. I ended up getting some BFG's TA KO2 size 275/70/17. I got no rub unless I turn the whee all the way to the very end. Other then that I'm pretty pumped on how it looks. I'm still in debate if I should get spacera for it

And yes the fender was painted... It's white but not the Toyota white. More like primered. I ended up buying the Toyota white color, but because of the crappy weather I haven't had the time to paint it right lately.
