is 4 hours labor to replace windshield right?

I'm being quoted $343.00 including 4 hrs labor at 43 per hr. Seems like a long time to replace the windshield and gasket? is that the normal time it takes? It's for PGW(?) OEM quality glass. thanks.

I would think your insurance would replace that at no cost to you...there's usually no deductible on windshields...Safelite replaced one for me in about 10 minutes...

I did non OEM glass and did the windshield for $135.00 in 45 minutes, it looked exactly like the original with the blue tinted strip on the top. So far no issues it has been about 8 months and no leaks, gasket is fine. Based on that, the four hours seems high for me, also the Toyota glass was quoted to me as about $660 plus. So I figured I could do 4 new ones for that price. Now there should be a follow on discussion on the merits of OEM versus non OEM glass!

Four hours is excessive. Labor for one guy should be about 1 to 1.5, maybe 2 hours, based on my having it done on a couple different Toyota vehicles.

Generally its only free on insurance if you are paying for glass coverage (check your policy!). I have found that at the rate I replace glass, its actually cheaper for me to pay out of pocket rather than pay the extra $ on the policy for "free" glass replacement, but YMMV.

I have AAA insurance with a $500 deductible so no bueno on getting it free. I just thought 4 hours was excessive it's supposed to be the best reputable shop here in north Dallas, back in San Diego I was quoted $170 something.
I'm willing to pay extra to get the best job but I don't want to be ripped off either.

Four hours is too long. Maybe they want to ensure that the sealant is somewhat cured before giving it to you. But seriously I watched a guy do one of my cars from start to finish is it was less than an hour in the rain. I would call around to some independent glass guys and they will do it for cheap.

the windshield in the 3rd gen 4runner is glued in, you will need a new outer trim strip and the correct glue and a way to apply the glue, a way to cut the windshield out. have done quite a few. it takes around 2 hours.

Had Mine Done Non-oem for 185 dollars out the door. They did it in 30 minutes too. It shouldn't be more than an hour if they're experienced.

Yeah 4 hours is way excessive. 1 2 hours tops. I would contact an auto glass company like safelite and see what they quote you. I did mine threw my shop since we have a full glass and tint division, insurance covered 100% and even paid for the tint strip.
