Is Early 96 4runner OBD2?

Can anyone verify for certain?

Canadian 1996 with 3RZ. Built January of '96 according to the door jam sticker.

It does have the OBD2 style plug under the dash, BUT NOWHERE on any of the stickers does it say OBD2 compliant. Nor does the owners manual.

I have ordered an ultraguage and would like to know for certain before I plug it in if anyone knows.

By law it has to be. And on the catalyst sticker under the hood it will say obd2 compliant

Yes, like I said in the first post, NOWHERE on any of the stickers does it say OBD2 in any way.

I did check that first as I mentioned.

Made in 01/96 is it possible the stickers didn't get updated 'til later?

IIRC, Canada didn't require OBD2 compliance on light duty vehicles, until the 1998 model year. That would explain not mentioning OBD2 on any labels on your '96.

I don't know about Canada, but in the U.S every vehicle marketed as a 1996 model had to have OBDII. For example, my 2003 was built in October of 2002 and if it were to have been a 1996 built in 1995 it would have had to have OBDII because it is considered a 96 model year.

They rarely if ever make major changes within a model year. I've never heard of an OBD1 1996 4Runner. I've never heard of a car having an OBD2 port while being an OBD1 either. I think you're good.
