Is it possible to remove the plastic piece by the shifter that says “P” “R” “N” “SD”

I’m going to repaint and then polyurethane all of the interior silver trim, and then use the Cerakote Trim wipes on all of the unpainted plastic panels. I used the Cerakote on my 11 year old Weathertechs and now they look like new so I’m going to hit every unpainted surface other than the dash to give it a permanent look of having just been Armor All’d

Anyway-

There’s a clear plastic piece that goes under the white part in the pic that I want to remove (and use some polywatch on to make the shift indicators look like new) which would likely hold it in place if I break those little tabs, and I can always glue it back in place if need be- but I thought I’d ask the tribe if anyone has found a way to remove it without breaking them...

Any advice?

Edit to add- I’m using Rustoleum Universal Satin Nickel paint and primer which seems to be the closest match

Edit 2. Pics not loading properly. I removed the center trim pieces and disassembled everything- from the 4wd knob to the shifter cover and broke everything down into individual parts. The part I want to remove is the plastic piece with those letters which is attached to the silver colored cover that goes over it. Hopefully I’m being clear since the pics aren’t showing
