Is it safe?

My ConsoleVault showed up today. It's designed for 5th gen. Install time 5 minutes, including taking the pictures. Seems nice and sturdy, I might drill a hole and install some interior lighting via a pin switch. Note that the key does not come out when unlocked so if you want to leave it unlocked you should get the combination lock version.

:dammit: I should have waited. I put in a fort knox, had it custom welded to fit and, relocated the power plug. Talking some $$

Advantage I have is the relocated plug is easier to use, and I have a simplex push button easy to open. Negative is that it makes some noise.

I hope so too, but I drive with a gun on my belt or in tissue holder, box is for storage when I`m out of the truck.

How does the safe attach to the vehicle? I am curious whether a thief could simply remove the safe from the vehicle and then open it elsewhere?

Personaly, my weapons are worth a LOT more to me, than to put them in a $270 home safe.

Grant: looks good and clean. If it works for you, good find. I travel with my gun always kept in a concealment holster on my hip. For long rides, it does get a little uncomfortable. I just took an old holster and attached it to the front driver's seat so it is between my legs. It only stays there when I am driving, then goes back on my hip when I get out of the car. It was simple, cheap, and works for me. If anyone wants pics, I can post, but it really is very simple. Whatever works for you is what matters.

Just the cost, but if you consider it is a perfect fit for 5th gen it's not as bad. Some may not like having to have it open to access the AC inverter plug but that isn't an issue to me.

Reference pics. There are two holes in the bottom (1st pic) that bolt it to the body. Bolts are metric equiv of about 1/4-20, it's not going anywhere without a lot of work. The lock is captured in a slot (2nd pic) and the hinge is strong so it would be fairly hard to pry it open

This is for when I go into a place I can't carry and have to leave my pistol and spare clips in the car. It's also for items of value I have leave in the car. When driving I keep my gun holstered like you. As a side note, I've seen seatbelt holsters that I'm looking into that can solve the comfort and quick access aspect of carrying while driving. Feel free to post pics of your setup in case someone is interested.

I bought it used on CL, I bet original cost was many time that.

My safe is hidden if they can`t find it they can`t steal it. it has biometric lock I can open in 2 seconds 3incorrect scans and you`ll have to use backup key or heave machinery. it`s not bigI don`t have rifles, pistols only 5 fits easy, probably another 5 will fit. my benelly shotgun stored under bed, loaded just in case. I never keep it locked,I can hide it when I`m leaving house for long time.

Yikes! That thing only weights 48.5 lbs! I'd expect anyone who wanted to, could just walk away with that fully loaded. 1/16" plate isn't a safe, its a tool box.

Yup. My small safe is about 650 lbs empty. My big safe is 850 lbs empty. Both are bolted to a concrete floor. They still aren't terribly secure against someone who knows what they are doing and has some time.
