is no boost guage a red flag?

like the title says, if a 4runner doesnt have aboost guage hooked up with the TRD S/C is that a red flag? or are the S/C and the guage typically sold seperatly. either way, ive trid searing and ive ended up in some yoda tech forums but does anyone know of a good write up for a boost guage? also is it nessessary to have, or just a good thing to monitor. one last ting, im trying to get a scan guage 2 for the rig. i saw you can set it up through the "advanced parameters" so the SG2 will monitor boost, has any one done this? is it accurate?

I've had my SC on for 1.5 years and no boost gauge. It's good to monitor, but not really necessary. I wouldn't call it a deal breaker at all.

I highly doubt the SG can monitor boost accurately.

Not really. Most people don't have one unless they are tuning. Knowing what boost you are running doesn't help for much except for diagnosing leaks or for running small pulleys. I also highly doubt a scan gauge could read boost, since there's no "boost sensor" or anything close on our engines.

Superchargers work just fine in a completely stock on these 4Runners. Everything else is an "add-on" in the sense that it's not necessary for normal use.

Im sure the scanguage could with a gm bar sensor, LOL.

But yea like stated you dont need it at all. Its not a turbo that can be overboosted. Pulley controls the boost level.

Most that were dealer installed when new didn't have a gauge. It would just confuse the customers who wanted the supercharger but didn't know how it worked. Toyota wanted minimal modifications done to the vehicles.

Sc kit does not come with boost guage, its an additional add on.
