Is the 4Runner your daily driver?

I got the 4Runner to replace my Ram, double the gas mileage WOOT!!

My daily driver though is still my 98 Dodge Dakota truck... 4-cyl 5-sp gets 25mpg, been paid off for years so all the dings and dents do bug me, and with 35mi commute each way, I'm keeping the mileage off the 4R too.

My other option is an 85 Vette (built out ), a VStar 1100 custom, or a 2003 R6...

Yeah, I like my toys.

I got 10-13mph in the Ram, significantly less when towing.

I get 23-25mpg in the 4Runner depending on how I drive.

I know parts only take a few hundred miles to break in but the gas will take more like 5k I believe. Seems like 5k is the standard breakpoint for most vehicles to get max gas mileage anyways.

My 07 sport has just over 15,000mi on it now and my numbers are done by hand, the in-dash shows 26-28mpg.

I have noticed that the faster I go the less I get... the more over 70 I go, the less and less it gets.

Yeah something would be wrong if it showed that high. Haha.

Mine has been showing 14-14.2 lately, and that's with city driving.When I did it myself it was more like 13.6 mpg. I went to san diego a while ago and the highest it got to was 16, while going 90mph for about an hour.

I think if I took a long trip on the freeway again it would get slightly higher. Not sure. Won't really know until I put another few thousand miles on it, and take it to mammoth.:biggrin2:

Just out of curiosity do you have a radar detector, or did you just take your chances you wouldn't get a ticket?

you should try going 70 instead of 90 and see how that affects your mileage.

Well i'm now driving 45-50 on city streets instead of being a dumb ass. And I drive 80-ish on the freeways. I can't go 70 or i'll get cut off, flipped off, etc...... I live in CA, the speed limit here is 95

one time i was going down to LA, sh!t i was in my other sedan and driving 120mph on I-5 near by grapevine, that dude with a 750iL was passing me at 140ish..... and inside LA like josh220 stated.... average speed limit on freeway is........ yea, 90ish.... hahahahahaha..... you are gonna get rear end if you drive 70 or 80.

Yeah exactly. You'll get rear ended so bad by the guy going 110 that you'll be sitting on his lap.

It's like that through the Mojave Desert, on the way to Mammoth. People pass you so fast the the wind from their little car will almost knock you out of the lane. It's still on the top 5 most dangerous roads in the U.S. I believe.

When someone passes a car, they don't assume that the car in the oncoming lane is going 120+ mph, so when they pull out to pass they hit head on. I've seen a few accidents that they hit head on, and both cars are completely totaled. They usually have the yellow tarps on the seats and road covering the bodies because none of the people survived.

yup, also on the border of CA and NV going toward to Vegas on I-15.... saw soooooo many exotic car like porsches, ferraris, lambos.... they were just flying by.... either saw them in my rear view mirror or only saw their dusts......

Just sold my 97 Accord for my 98 Runner, our 100 lb black lab & our 75 lb Cur hound were not impressed with riding in the 2 door Accord! The 4Runner is my daily driver, our Ford one ton is the fuel guzzler of the family

I drive my 04' V8 supercharged sport every day. I sometimes switch with my girlfriend and drive her 07' 5 speed corolla "s", that gets great mileage! I end up filling both vehicles so it doesn't matter much I guess? She's worth it though!

I drive mine daily averaging about 75 miles a day. I've got a little over 4K on the odo now and I bought it right at the end of October! I had a 02 Jeep G.C. Limited before this with the 4.7 V8 and it didn't do bad at all for an 8. On the highway I would consistantly get 20+ mpg with it. The 'Runner does about the same mileage with the 6. The power output and acceleration feel the same while pushing a heavier vehicle which is why I got the 6 instead of the 8. If I gained anything back into my pocket is the cost of maintainance that I was constantly putting into the Jeep which is why I got rid of it.
