one time i was going down to LA, sh!t i was in my other sedan and driving 120mph on I-5 near by grapevine, that dude with a 750iL was passing me at 140ish..... and inside LA like josh220 stated.... average speed limit on freeway is........ yea, 90ish.... hahahahahaha..... you are gonna get rear end if you drive 70 or 80.

that's like Florida too. the limit is 70mph which equaled 90+. also, it's crazy to me to see the majority of people driving lifted F250s, duallies, etc, around 90+mph... no regard for current gas prices.

NJ is pretty tame i think. 65mph is the limit on major freeways and most people cruise at about 80-85... i just throw the cruise on for 70-75mph.

i swap trucks daily but i've been driving the Pathfinder more as of late.

I miss driving in CA on the wide lanes... I'm not in Seattle and people drive MUCH slower around here.

Right after I moved here I bought a twin turbo 3 series BMW since I still had the LA mind-set, but now I regret it since I cant open her up very much at all.

I'm going to be able to take advantage of my surroundings now that I have the 4Runner!

Daily driver. Then again I don't drive much. I had bought my Celica new in 2000, just got rid of it almost 2 months ago and it only had 56K miles on it.

Yes, my DD. 100 mile round trip commute into Denver in all kinds of weather. 80 degrees on Monday and snow on Tuesday this week. Consistent 19.5 MPG averaging 75 MPH. I had an 01 4Runner that I put 195,000 miles on doing the same commute.

Not anymore, with gas prices and the fact that my wife is a stay at home mom now, we've switched cars. I drive her 07' Mazda 3 GT, and she drives the runner, which thankfully isn't but about 400 miles a MONTH, less than two tanks of gas. The Mazda averages about 30mpg.

have a 97 corolla for dd... 28/35mpg. I drive the 4runner maybe 2-4 times a month.

I just see no logic in buying a vehicle as nice as a 4Runner, just to be cheap on gas. You could sell your "supreme gas mileage" vehicle and it would pay for years of gas, plus give you a nice chunk of change to keep in the bank now. Maybe that's me, but the idea of having a 2nd vehicle just doesn't make sense to save gas. You are still filling up the 2nd vehicle, even though it may be less, as well as paying a 2nd insurance rate, not to mention the above mentioned fact that thousands of dollars can be had by selling it. Granted, you may not be able to get much for a beater car, but a few thousand is better than nothing.

well the way i see it, i like to keep my 4runner clean(always garaged) and not put too many miles on it, so having a 2nd economy car for my daily commute to work or school is ideal. I don't have to worry about the corolla getting hit or dinged and the insurance is pretty cheap. Although gas is expensive these days, I have been doing this even when gas was cheaper 4 years ago($2/gallon). It really depends on how much an individual can afford, so if they can have another economy car, they will, and use the 4runner for leisure driving.

We need two cars. I bought the mazda to replace my wife's aging Honda Civic last year. I loved it so much, that I replaced my Lexus LS400 with a vehicle my wife felt more comfortable driving, so I could drive the Mazda more often, which is when the 4runner showed up. At the time, my wife was working too. But now a days, she's not (we're expecting our first child, literally any day now), and she won't be going back to work. So, it just makes economical sense for me to commute in the mazda at 30mpg, then the 4runner at 19-20 mpg. Selling the Mazda would be of no use, as the profit after paying off the loan would not justify the decision. Plus, in all honesty, I prefer to drive the Mazda over the 4runner on my commute anyway "twisty back country roads". I hop in, turn on the heated leather seats, kick on the Bose, open the roof, and run through the gears of the triptronic gearbox, and zoom zoom zoom around horse farms at about 70 mph for 20 miles eachway. And my wife is in the much more safer 4runner with our son. You gotta' HIT that thing to cause injury, as where the Mazda, even with it's 10 airbags, I'm not so sure about.

Plus, we want to keep the 4runner for as long as possible, and rotate new cars against it.
