Is the back of a 3rd gen long enough to sleep in?

I plan on picking up a 3rd gen within a month or so but just out of curiousity, with the back seats folded down, is the back long enough to sleep in? I guess that would mean at least 6 feet. Thanks

I would say...probably yes...if you fold down the rear seats.

The back is under 6 feet in length. It is a little short for sleeping in. I will give you exact measurements this afternoon. As usuall my Wife took the 4Runner today.

I'll give you the exact measurements this afternoon. One problem is the bottom rear seat folds up to make the area flat. That is great to have a flat area, but it prevents you from putting your pillow up futher with the front seat up all the way. So you are pretty much stuck with the measurements that I will give you today, which I know is under 6 feet.

yes it is possible to sleep in the back. to give you more room back there, remove the seat cushion (only 2 bolts 12mm bolts). This way, the back of the seat will fold down and be flat and then you will not have the seat cushion proped up. that seat cushion takes up approximately 6-9 inches of space so without that you'll have more room.

Just take some tools with you if you camp and just remove it and then reapply the cushion when you're done

OK, the length is 67" or 5 foot 7 inches long. I remember trying to lie down and at 6'4" forget it. Enclosed is a picture of the truck. You can see the seats fold up and make a barrier. Good Times is right, each seat is bolted to the floor with 2 bolts. Also if you look at the picture, you could try and sleep at a angle. Or you can do what I do, get a Motel room.

if you dont mind you can put your feet up where the center console is and have them protrude out, or you can curl up and sleep in a ball...it would keep you warmer =)

Also, you can remove the headrest from front seat, slide seat all the way forward, drop seat back all the way to rear to line up with rear seat cushion. Am 6'2'' and it works for me on pax side. Girlfriend is 5'11"' and it works for her on driver side.

I'm buying a 3rd gen sometime soon for a camping/travelling vehicle, precisely because it's a lot longer than other competetive vehicles. I'm 6'2, and with the seat bottom gone and the front seat moved up a bit, I just fit. My second plan, if that's not comfortable enough, is to build a plywood bench in the back that can be extended well over the rear seat area with the front seat slid forward. Then store boxes of supplies underneath it.
