is there a alignment to seperate the T-Case from the transmission?

I have a 86 4 cyl manual 4runner. Is there a certain position the sticks are supposed to be in when separating the T-case from transmission? or an alignment of some kind? ... I don't want to pry too much without checking first... and of all things missing is my manual.... Thanks

I pulled my t-case out last week by myself it didn't have any thing really besides a little tuggin on it asn it slid right off. Yours might have extra RTV or something holding it together.

Couldn't tell you, myself, but check the stickies up top for PDFs of the service manuals. Never be without a manual again.
