Is there a DIY for Tcase output seal?

After >130,000 miles and 11 years of ownership, I have my first issue! Not bad.

I did a little searching around but didn’t find one. This must not be a very common issue since it seems there are DIY for just about everything else. It’s only weeping now and not “leaking” so it’s not urgent.

It's the same transfer case as Tacoma, 4th gen 4runner, probably several other models, so a how to for those will be the same.

I replaced mine a while back because of a leak - it ended up not being that seal, but actually the O ring for the blank cover for where the speedo sensor would be, if it had one.

Many thanks for the info. I think I might clean up the area very well and put some fluorescent dye in there, then drive it around for a day and see exactly where it’s leaking. I suspect mine might be leaking in the same place.

If it is the speedo sensor hole, it is a stupid easy fix. 1 bolt (the one pointing to the passenger side) and it's out. Part number is 96711-24030 $4
