Is There a Master Fuse for Stereo, Clock, Cig, Etc?

Since it's working I'm hesitant to mess with it, but without any light at all I'm going to be constantly checking it since I tend to knock those switches getting in and out and don't want to accidentally have those left on when I leave the vehicle so I would really like to get the switch to illuminate when they are on at least. I can live without them turning off when the key is removed if that's what is creating problems. I'll grab some spare fuses today just in case ....

OK, let's do one thing at a time so we know where the problem is, if there is one. The first thing I want you to do is make sure you have the 12V+ on #2 in my diagram and the load (the aux lights) on #3. So, with key on and lights off, make sure you have 12V+ at #2 and nothing at #3. If that is so, then connect the ground wire to #8 and see if the indicator light comes on with the aux. lights.

If that works, then bridge the ground to #7 and connect a tap from the dash light circuit power side to #6 for the second indicator light. If you want it to dim with the dash lights, you will need to tap a solid green wire. Not to dim, find white with green stripe.

As to the key on/key off part, that really has nothing to do with the switch. It has everything to do with where you tapped into the system and how you wired the relay. Can you tell me a little more about how you did that? (EDIT: I mean, EXACTLY how you did that.) Also, do you have DRL's? I forget if 2000 was the first year or if it was '01. If the switch works, we can get this to work, too. Exactly how do you want it to work? Off with key, off with headlights, off with tailights, etc.?

Alright, I disconnected #3 and put the black ground to #8 and get nothing either from the lights or the switch (with key on) so I stopped there.

Honestly I can't be certain which is which because there is a red, blue, and black all coming from the relay. And a red, blue going to the lights.

Should I swap the #2 and 3 wires and see what happens?

Am I supposed to be disconnecting the batter ground for any of this?

Whoa, hold on. No wonder you were frying fuses.

Ok, any chance you can get a 12volt test light? The kind that looks like a screwdriver and has a probe on the end and a wire with a clamp on the end? That way you can test #2 and #3 as I asked. This is essential. You don't want to do this by trial and error. There are too many combinations.

Second, can you look at the relay and see what terminals they are connected to? Hopefully they are numbered 30, 85,86,87. Can you give me the color on each one and if they go to the switch or somewhere else?

What colors did you have on #2 and #3, respectively?

Colors without context mean absolutely nothing. To help you, I need to diagram this thing.

Yes, disconnect the battery ground while changing the connections.

I do have a voltmeter if that helps but not a wand. Ok, I'm going to move some stuff out of the way so I can get a better look at the relay.

Ok, use the voltmeter. Check first that you have 12v+ at terminal 2. Then leave the probe on terminal 2 and test the other wires you have not connected. The one that shows 12V+ will be the ground.
