Is there a secret way to contact Gobi

I'm trying to get a quote to ship a Gobi rack in Canada.. but after several weeks and multiple emails I can't get a reply. Is there some kind of secret internal email that they will answer?

Ha Ha. The answer is No. Send your email. Wait a day and call Sandra. She will have your email info in front of you when you call.

It really is amazing that in 2012 any company so sucks at answering emails but it is what it is. And since the racks are so good its worth the effort.

^ yeah, I got that part but I've had to get in touch with Gobi a number of times and he will need to call. She simple will not answer emails. Not even when I tired to spend over $1k with them. Not even when I had a problem and needed help.

Paul there is better but Sandra does sales.

Yeah with Baja I'm ok, it's just that they charge nearly 400$ for shipping.... as such I would like a quote from Gobi to compare since at equal price I prefer Gobi.

Just saw you were from Canada... that's a steep shipping price! I paid $150 to get it shipped clear across the US (CA to VA).

On Gobi: I tried contacting them a couple of times via email to no avail. Baja got back to me right away and even sent me pictures and schematics of the rack, too. I'd highly recommend Baja.

I never emailed them when I was dealing with them for the same reasons you are griping about here. I would just call them with questions.

Perhaps email your questions to me and I will call her repeatedly and try to get the answers you need? I mean if it's just about how much it would cost to ship from A to B it shouldn't be that hard once you get ahold of her?

That's pretty high for the shipping. My Baja Utility Rack only cost $180 to ship to Calgary. Have you tried contacting Ouipack? They're the Canadian Baja distributor and located in St. Sauveur.

I got NO replies from Gobi in my search for what rack I wanted, I did get in touch with someone at Trailduty.com though, and they were really helpful. Baja emailed me back within a few hours, even though they were closed for the holidays. I like the Gobi Stealth but I LOVE my Baja Utility rack.

Contact John Gjata if you want a better rate for your Baja. If he cannot do it, I am sure he can point you in the direction of a Canadian distributor. I attached his contact info below.

After hearing this I will never purchase any products from Gobi!! In this economy regardless of how well known or trusted your products are customer service should be your number one priority! I was debating the stealth rack and a ladder for my Runner, not anymore.

I will also strongly recommend John at Bajarack. I was one of the first folks to order/receive their low profile rack and I never had trouble getting ahold of him, or someone else to update me in the status of my order.

Also pleased with the rack. I've used it and beat the crap out of it this year, and while the powdercoat has been bashed off in some spaces, it has held up pretty well.

Sucks when you try to spend the money with small American businesses, and this is what you get, isn't it? I remember the Gobi group buy thread and all the "where the hell is my rack" posts.

I don't dispute that Sandra can be hard to reach sometimes (I experienced much the same thing). However, when you do get a hold of them and have them start working their service is second to none.

I ordered a Gobi rack and had it installed last fall not knowing that they would do custom mods up front depending on the lights I wanted to install. When talking with Paul he said he would custom fab a mount so I could install the Rigids to my rack (I know that lots of you can handle that on your own but it is beyond my capabilities). I had him order the lights, I ordered the switches and the fuse block and set a date for installation. When I showed up he had already wired the lights to a new Gobi rack top that was customized for the lights I bought and simply switched it out for the rack I that had been on my truck for the past 3.5 months of Colorado winter driving.

On top of that he was experiencing an issue between the Rigid lights he provided and the switches that I provided. Even thought it was due to parts I provided he reached out to OTRATTW to figure out the issue (on a Saturday) and took care of it. He probably spent an extra 2-3 hours because of this issue but didn't charge me any more.

I am a HUGE proponent of treating the customer right and doing the basics well (i.e. answering the phone and your email) and Gobi clearly has their issues but if you can get your way through the process the end result is beyond worth it. Their office management and coordination skills are sub par but their customer service and attention to detail is beyond most anyone else I've dealt with.

All that said - guys, they make a kick a$$ rack which I would still recommend without hesitation. Paul also care about his products as evidenced by coming up with stronger struts and working to redesign plates that are rubbing.

I was quoted 1200$ with shipping + taxes for the rack shipped to Quebec City (about the size of Albuquerque for those in the US). Rack itself is 850$ USD and canadian dollar is on parity with US.

Still at least they answer emails so I may go with their option to pick it up at their warehouse since it's not that far from Quebec City.

Not sure if its relevant anymore but you can order gobi products Through Northridge4x4.ca there store is located in alberta. They mostly sell jeep specific products but if you email them they will order it in for you.
